What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are looking for a skilled and highly motivated Electronics Technologist to become a vital member of our Electronics Systems Realization team. In this role, you will focus on the assembly, rework, and repair of printed wiring assemblies, cables, and other components designed for critical satellite applications. Our projects involve complex, multi-layer assemblies produced in low quantities with high rigor (Class 3 standards). This is an exciting opportunity to develop innovative solutions to unique national security challenges!

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Assembly and Repair: Work on multiple assemblies, including repair and rework, with a particular emphasis on boards that require full hand assembly.
  • Autonomous Functioning: Operate independently as an assembly and rework/repair technologist within the Satellite Systems Realization department, while also serving as a lab owner and alternate lab owner.
  • Workload Management: Balance responsibilities to support various organizations while maintaining lab ownership and fulfilling daily personnel duties.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee electronics assemblies, including updating inventory, managing parts in Oracle, and auditing kits for electronic assemblies.

    A soldering test will be required as part of the interview process. Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$70,200 - $135,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • High School diploma plus 3 years' directly related experience hand soldering electronic components.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Associate degree in related field.
  • Currently or recently (within 5 years') certified in at least one of the following:
  • Certified to J-STD-001
  • Certified to IPC-7711/7721 Rework/Repair standards
  • Equivalent Mil-Std or Company certification
  • Familiar with NASA-STD-8739.1A.
  • Certified to IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-620 within last 3 years.
  • Proven experience using assembly tools such as a solder iron, microscope, hot plate, hot air pen, oven, micrometers, calipers, OHM meters etc.
  • Willingness and ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities.
  • Able to work in dynamic atmospheres with changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment with high initiative and Collaboration.
  • Experience reading and interpreting PWA drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledge of torque wrenches and torque of hardware on assembled boards.
  • Experience with installation of bottom terminated components, press fit connectors, fine pitch IC.
  • Experience working in an AS9100 environment.
  • Active DOE clearance.

About Our Team:

Product Realization, consists of highly skilled technologists, product qualification specialists and production engineers who consistently deliver robust, reliable electronics primarily for qualified space flight applications. In order to execute ambitious technology insertion into systems with rigidly fixed delivery schedules, greater alignment between prototype design and flight-qualified hardware must be achieved, particularly to support the design of the next-generation Global Burst Detector satellite system. As a result, these two aspects will be fused into a single unit while still reserving the appropriate autonomy required in the development build cycle to ensure reliability levels commensurate with previous designs.
