What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Global Security professional to join our dynamic environment to work on various international and domestic security programs assisting with physical security design, implementation, training, border security, law enforcement and inspections!
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Implement security training and the development of capacity-building resources in support of international and domestic programmatic engagements.
- Collaborate with USG Program Leads to develop and implement program/project plans for country specific engagements on Global Security.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels, including with external customers, multi-lab team members, and internal management, to effectively complete technical projects and planning.
- Plan and direct the execution of projects involving engineered systems for global security, coordinating as required with customers to deliver projects according to plan.
- Defines project objectives, due dates, budgets, and schedules; acquires and manages resources for planning, tracking, and executing the project from initiation to close out; monitors cost, schedule, and performance; and incorporates systems engineering, configuration management, risk management, and quality standards into the lifecycle of the project.
- Apply Project Management skills and knowledge of fundamental global security concepts, standard methodologies, and procedures.
Travel as required to domestic and international destinations.
The selected applicant can be a remote worker located in any U.S. State or District of Columbia. Regular or periodic travel to your assigned work location may be required.
Salary Range:
$133,800 - $227,500
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- Master's degree in STEM or related applicable field such as criminal justice, public administration, environmental management, or public policy plus four (4) or more years' experience; or a Bachelor's degree as stated above, plus eight (8) years' experience.
- Experience in all the following:
- Law enforcement and related activities under the purview of the National Nuclear Security Administration, Department of Justice, Department of State and Department of Homeland Security
- Developing and delivering policy, training, to conduct expert and assessment missions, and to establish human and infrastructure capacity in security and non-proliferation efforts.
- Engineering or technical judgment, within defined scientific and engineering practices, in negotiating with customers and program managers to ensure that resources are available to accomplish the work, identify procurement and contracting needs, and marshal resources to complete project deliverables within the scope, schedules, and budgets defined in project work packages.
- Customer relationship and program management on matters of requirements and limitations.
- Working with organizations responsible for mitigating transnational crime.
- Planning and execution of incident management policies, procedures, and exercises.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire:
- Experience in the following:
- Global law enforcement through working with agencies such as the IAEA and INTERPOL.
- Real-world planning and security operations.
- Proven ability to perform independent work, build sponsor relationships, as well as to work effectively in various roles.
- Proficiency with varied communication methods, including oral presentation, preparation of high-impact visual presentations, written reports, and the ability to communicate scientific and technical information clearly and concisely at a level tailored the audience.
- Demonstrated versatility, political savvy, and high tolerance for ambiguity.

- Demonstrated ability to team across disciplines.
- Ability to develop and deliver training curriculum in international settings.
About Our Team:
The International Nuclear Security Engineering (INSE) department is part of the Global Security and Cooperation Center. Our mission is to prevent theft and sabotage of civilian nuclear fuel cycle facilities and nuclear materials worldwide. INSE is the principal organization providing engineered solutions to Nuclear Security system analysis, design, and installation as well as implementation of nuclear security standard methodologies and technical exchanges for federal and industry partners.

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Position Information:
This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
