Intern, Technical Undergraduate Year Round - IT and Cyber Growth Lab, Hybrid

What Your Job Will Be Like:

Sandia's Information and Security Engineering division is seeking undergraduate student interns who are interested in learning more about IT to join our dynamic team! In addition to other duties, on any given day, you'll be called upon to:

  • Contribute to providing Maintenance and Operations (M&O) and Support activities Develop programmatic solutions using compiled code and/or scripts
  • Contribute to Endpoint Engineering for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Mobile Devices
  • Develop Reports using Microsoft Power BI, Report Builder, and SQL Services Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • Perform Data Analysis across heterogeneous data sources
  • Provide support for the Classified Computing Environment, Cross Domain Solutions, and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Tools
  • Configure and distribute credentials and devices Create/Modify documentation
  • Validate critical systems data
  • Partner with a variety of teams/groups in different functional/organizational areas Assist with data entry, project work, and non-technical requests

Salary Range:

At Sandia, we value the important work done by our interns and its contribution to National Security. Because of this, our interns earn competitive pay rates. Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. Qualifications We Require:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in a related accredited undergraduate program
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship

Note: If you have not earned a HS diploma or equivalent, please apply to a high school intern position.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Currently enrolled in an associate or bachelor's degree program in an engineering, or science- related field (additional preference to Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or similar)
  • Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0
  • Familiarity with scripting capabilities, such as PowerShell or Python, and programming languages, such as C#, Java, and Python
  • Knowledge of Endpoint Engineering tools, such as Ansible Tower, JAMF, Microsoft Intune, System Center Configuration Manager, Security Endpoint Protection, or SysTrack
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Collaboration, Data Analysis/Reporting, and Productivity tools, such as Azure, Office 365, Power BI, SharePoint, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), or Microsoft Teams
  • Existing knowledge of operating systems, such as Apple iOS, Apple macOS, Microsoft Windows, Red Hat Linux
  • Experience with databases and SQL, specifically MS SQL Server Demonstrated desire for broad and continuous learning
  • Ability to collaborate with a wide range of individuals and organizations Comfortable working with ambiguity and changing circumstances

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
