What Your Job Will Be Like:

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individuals to join our Facilities Operations Management Group as an Operations and Engineering Lead in the role as a Facilities Portfolio Manager (FacPM). Applicants on this requisition may be interviewed by multiple organizations within Facilities at Sandia National Laboratories. There are two positions available, (1) a division aligned FacPM, and (2) a FacPM to lead our site utility Infrastructure team. In these roles, you will be responsible for leading a multi-disciplined team along with other matrixed team members for the sustainment of a set of buildings or site infrastructure within a given portfolio. That portfolio will be in support of one or more of our key line partner organizations, or stewardship of the site infrastructure. An important aspect of these roles is identifying and supporting projects, maintenance, scoping and acceptance of all work within your portfolio.

  • Division aligned FacPM - Key aspects of your role in the will be to lead a team comprised of architects, engineers and building managers along with other matrixed team members for the sustainment of a set of buildings within a given division line partner's portfolio. To help develop a yearly list of the Division Priority Work Requests (PWR) and the statusing of those requests with the division representatives on a regular basis. You will be the point of contact for that division to help them navigate the Facilities organization. Also, as the FacPM for that division you will coordinate with our Work Coordination Control (WCC), Facilities Planners, Project Managers, Architects, Engineering, Designers, and Maintenance teams to optimize the Facilities and Operations Management processes. The successful candidate must be forward thinking and proactive in their approach to current and future critical mission needs.
  • Site utility infrastructure aligned FacPM - Key aspects of your role as the will be to develop strategies for the stewardship of all critical site infrastructure including but not limited to high voltage power, underground utilities, roads, site drainage, parking, and parking lot paving maintenance. Also, as the FacPM for the infrastructure you will coordinate with our Work Coordination Control (WCC), Facilities Planners, Project Managers, Engineering, Designers, and Maintenance teams to optimize the Facilities and Operations Management processes. The successful candidate must be forward thinking and proactive in their approach to current and future site infrastructure needs.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • The key point of contact for Sandia for all site infrastructure needs
  • Create new tools and communications for communicating information to critical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate across Facilities organizations to ensure portfolio success and integration.
  • Manage portfolio risks and issues, implementing strategies to mitigate risks and resolve issues promptly.
  • Champion innovation and agility within the team, encouraging the identification of gaps and opportunities for improvements for how we deliver services.
  • Partner with line stakeholders to develop solutions to technical facilities projects.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams to solve complex facilities issues.
  • Lead and Facilitate meetings with Executive Leadership to communicate challenges and successes.
  • Managing a large portfolio of buildings and supporting projects from renovations, remodels, new buildings, and site infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with system engineers, security, maintenance teams, line programs, and environmental groups to coordinate site operations, utilities, construction impacts, and urgent response needs.
  • Ensure the facilities and infrastructure under your purview are fit for mission use, including all project and maintenance activities.
  • Team with engineers, planners, and programs to develop future site needs, impacts, and requirement.
  • Initiate, design, develop, execute, and evaluate new processes, products, or systems for implementing and integrating optimal facilities and infrastructure solutions.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$95,400 - $185,700

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's degree in facility management, engineering, construction management, architecture, or relevant discipline plus five (5) or more years of directly related experience; or master's in facility management, engineering discipline, architecture, construction management, or relevant discipline plus one (1) or more years of directly related experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • PMP, PE, FMP, or other relevant certifications.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring of professional staff.
  • Experience developing solutions to complex problems of a broad scope.
  • Acknowledged as an authority in a functional organizational area.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a diverse teaming environment.
  • Experience in program management and program management certification.
  • Experience engineering complex systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise decision making authority related to cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Experience representing an organization as the prime contact for communications with upper-level management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills typically demonstrated through various products and presentations.
  • Extensive experience in civil engineering and managing infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with administrative support staff, strategic planners, operations engineers, project teams, maintenance personnel, and various other professionals to achieve objectives.
  • Proven ability to use expertise in one or more engineering fields to make critical decisions that support mission requirements and infrastructure operations.
  • Experience in Facilities Management, Project Management, lifecycle asset management, and planning for the maintenance of buildings or infrastructure systems.
  • Active DOE Q security clearance.

About Our Team:

The Facilities Operations and Management Group consists of the Facilities Area Management (FAM) teams and Work Coordination Control (WCC), which serve as the primary interface for Facilities services. Our mission is to ensure customers understand how to work with facilities, understand division priorities, facilitate initial scoping, deep understanding of building systems and shepherding projects from request through operations.

Security Clearance:
