If so, the Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) Radiation Protection (RP) Organization is seeking a Quality Systems Professional for the RP Quality and Compliance team (4612). This role supports Group 4610 and the functional Mission spaces of the RP Quality, RP Dosimetry, onsite RP analytical laboratories, offsite analytical contract laboratories, and RP Dosimetry.

The candidate selected for this Quality Systems Professional role will provide leadership and direction to Group 4610 RP quality programs across all RP services.

On any given day, you may be called upon to:

• Direct and supervise the implementation of the Quality Programs across Group 4610, Radiation Protection.
• Define, describe, and interpret the basic elements of RP quality systems, including design, planning, assurance, control, documentation, and improvement.
• Translate requirements (e.g., contractual, regulatory) into RP quality management system related processes, tools, and practices.
• Provide advisement to RP personnel in the appropriate application of quality-related DOE regulations and orders as well as SNL policy.
• Provide advisement to RP management on Group 4610 quality assurance and control issues.
• Direct and perform quality assurance, causal analysis, corrective action development, and preventive action development services.
• Analyze, identify, and track trends in data (e.g., RP instrumentation, dosimeter results, radiobioassay results) to detect areas of risk and systemic issues and provide effective solutions.
• Apply methods, tools, and techniques to design, maintain and improve products and processes.
• Leads or participates in RP Quality Team meetings.
• Leads or participates in RP quality-related projects and working groups (WGs).
• Authors and maintains quality-related procedures and processes.
• Performs occupational radiation protection compliance verification functions.

Work is fast-paced, and assignments may change frequently in response to RP customer and organization needs. Some travel may be required. Activities include working with or in the presence of hazardous materials. Potential hazards include, but are not limited to, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, chemicals, safety hazards, biological hazards, noise, and ergonomic hazards.

Onsite work: Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM.

Ability to occasionally work a modified schedule to meet customer needs and travel.

Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a private vehicle for travel to and from work locations is required.

Salary Range:

$70,200 - $135,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

• This posting is at the Member/Senior level requiring a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in quality or B.S. in a physical science or engineering subject (e.g., chemistry, physics, health physics, nuclear engineering) augmented by formal training in quality (or equivalent experience) and:
• 0 years of relevant professional-level experience in auditing, assessing, and improving quality systems and processes to qualify for the Member level, or
• 5 years of relevant professional-level experience in auditing, assessing, and improving quality systems and processes to qualify for the Senior level.
• Experience with statistical methods and tools.
• Working knowledge of 10 CFR 830 and 10 CFR 835 and/or 10CFR20.
• Current computer skills, including working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Ability to report daily to work locations at SNL in Albuquerque, NM.
• Ability to occasionally work a modified schedule to meet customer needs and travel.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level security clearance.
• Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a private vehicle for travel to and from work locations.

Qualifications We Desire:

• A Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Quality, Health Physics, Chemistry, or similar appropriate physical science and (5) plus years of quality systems work experience.
• Demonstrated experience with implementation of ISO 17025 and/or ISO 9001 requirements in a highly regulated environment.
• Experience providing dedicated quality management services in a DOE operational radiation protection program.
• Experience, knowledge, and training in analytical chemistry and/or radiochemistry and/or radiobioassay.
• Demonstrated experience with implementation of dosimeter and radiobioassay ANSI standards (e.g., ANSI N13.11, N13.30, N13.32).
• Demonstrated experience with implementation of DOE Laboratory Accreditation Program (DOELAP) standards (e.g., DOE-STD1111, DOE-STD-1095, DOE-STD-1112-2019).
• Proven track-record of excellent organizational and individual leadership skills with the ability to effectively work and interact effectively with individuals at all levels.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills and flexibility.
• Ability to work effectively independently, and in team situations in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
• Experience working in a fast-paced research and development environment.
• Active DOE "Q" level security clearance.

About Our Team:

The Radiation Protection Organization provides radiation protection support services to Sandia line organizations and is the steward of the corporate Radiation Protection Program. Services provided include: translation of DOE directives and federal requirements into Sandia-specific requirements and guidance; development of tools to assist in the identification and control of hazards associated with the use of radioactive materials and radiation-generating devices; providing training and qualifications to Sandia personnel to support radiological activities and operations throughout the Laboratories; and workplace sampling and monitoring services to ensure effectiveness of radiological controls. The Organization works with the corporate Radiation Protection Safety Committee to establish goals, measure performance, and perform assessments to collect data to support continuous improvement in the safe performance of radiological operations.
