What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a Computing Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic team!

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Perform the full lifecycle management (analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, integration and maintenance) of multi-user information systems. This includes Linux servers, virtual and cloud infrastructures, and associated components and subsystems.
  • Maintain the integrity of software and systems to meet established requirements for service levels, disaster recovery, business continuity, and security.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with customers to triage, diagnose server or computing issues for resolution.
  • Apply systematic, principled, and quantifiable engineering and life cycle management techniques and processes to deliver integrated information systems hardware for mission-enabled or direct mission deployment and production.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and may decide hardware and software technologies for hardware system solutions.
  • May perform virtual server systems analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting, repair and recovery, disaster recovery, software installations, systems OS and software upgrades and security patches.
  • May be responsible for performance tuning, hardware upgrades and resource optimization, maintenance of user accounts.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$70,200 - $135,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or:
  • Associate's degree in relevant field plus four (4) years exempt level experience
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Knowledge of:
  • Information systems and lifecycle engineering processes such as: requirements engineering, top-level functional designs, lifecycle cost analysis, risk analysis, quality engineering, configuration management, testing, reverse engineering, component integration, programming, and analysis
  • software tools, and processes, including software methodology frameworks; drivers and configuration and component integration
  • server operating systems Linux, Windows including system architectures, network infrastructures, and client-server principles
  • ongoing trends in the information systems hardware field and the ability to understand and work with new and emerging technologies such as virtual technologies and applications in cloud architectures
  • hardware and software integration and testing
  • experience with older computing and modern operating systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong oral, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work closely with customers and suppliers, defining expectations and mutual responsibilities

About Our Team:

Sandia National Laboratories Microsystems and Engineering Sciences Applications (MESA) complex provides outstanding processing capability in semiconductor microfabrication. The MESA Fab facility is subdivided into 2 areas:
  1. 12,500 sq. ft., class 1 cleanroom silicon wafer fab that produces radiation hardened CMOS integrated circuit technology and micro-electromechanical (MEMs) devices2. 16,600 sq. ft., class 10 cleanroom fabrication area that produces compound semiconductor circuits and devices and back-end of line metallization and packaging

Department 05234, Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) supports the programming, security and computing needs of MESA .

Posting Duration:
