What Your Job Will Be Like:
Do you want to join a team that collaborates across multiple centers to deliver improvements that enable compliant and effective operations? If so, the Facilities and Infrastructure Operations (F&I) team has an opening for an Operations & Engineering Lead!
As part of the D4K's Chief of Staff office, our team responsibilities include advancing D4K's mission by objectively assessing performance, integrating programs, and driving solutions. In this position, we need energy, enthusiasm, knowledge of quality systems, project management skills, and the ability to drive successful completion of F&I goals.
On any given day, you may be called upon to:
- Lead assessments to identify requirements, implementation gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in engineering and technical projects to ensure aspects of quality requirements are integrated in the work being performed.
- Serve as liaison for external audits.
- Lead teams to create corrective action plans.
- Interpret requirements and policy expectations to ensure implementation into the F&I business and operational environment.
- Apply standard principles and advanced techniques for improvement activities.
- Lead status meetings to review and report on projects and initiatives.
- Lead development of a Facilities process or recommend efficiencies in existing processes.
- Work with customers both internal and external to develop trust-based relationships leading work activities performed within the QMS.
- Provide technical leadership to all facilities centers to ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policy, and procedures.
- Participate in teams to identify potential risks, develop risk mitigation strategies, and corrective action plans.
- Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
- Serve as SME in Quality Management System elements
The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.
Salary Range:
$99,400 - $193,600
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field such Engineering, Business, Quality Assurance, or other relevant field, plus five (5) years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of related education and relevant experience.
- 2 years of experience conducting assessments or audits.
- Active DOE L-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire:
- Master's degree in Business, Quality Assurance, Engineering or other related field.
- Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt.
- Knowledge and experience with ISO 9001 and DOEO 414.1E.
- Ability to lead, coordinate, and prioritize work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills with demonstrated experience from program level to the executive level.
- Ability to clearly communicate rules and regulations and make recommendations.
- Knowledge of Sandia's facilities and operational policies, procedures, and safety practices.
- Experience in project leadership, developing policies, and creating procedures.
About Our Team:
The Facilities and Infrastructure Operations department enables high-quality operational outcomes by driving and continually improving processes, performance, and results. The department designs integrated processes and provides centralized resources for risk, requirements, records management, data analytics, process design, training, measures and metrics, audits and assessments, corrective actions, information technology, and continuous improvement. We are customer-focused, leading both tactical and strategic activities across the Facilities centers. Our foundation is a process-based Quality Management System aligned to DOE requirements, corporate policies, and ISO standards. Responsibilities include the full lifecycle of assurance improvement activities though a Lean Six Sigma and Systems Thinking approach.

Security Clearance:
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) L security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
