The Strategic RF & Electronic Systems Organization (5370) is seeking a motivated R&D Manager to lead and proactively contribute to our team. Our team focuses on specialty sensor, electronics, and RF technologies for a wide variety of national security missions including both Nuclear Deterrence (ND) and Integrated Deterrence and Defense (ID&D). We also manage projects across the entire product lifecycle from conceptual idea, through early Technology Readiness Level (TRL) development, to next level assembly integration and qualification, and finally production and sustainment. The Electronic Systems Department (5374) is primarily focused on product development, systems integration, and qualification, but heavily collaborates with the group leadership team on production, sustainment, and customer outreach as well. Projects within 5370 range from rapid, quick reaction requests in response to immediate real-world needs, to longer term efforts with rigorous development and quality requirements.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work in a dynamic teaming environment, sharing resources as well programmatic responsibilities.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Regularly collaborate with multiple government organizations including DOD, NNSA, and DOE, and to coordinate and facilitate the development, integration, and fielding of technologies and capabilities not only from Sandia, but from across the United States Defense Programs Complex.
- Apply strong multi-disciplined team leadership skills, military acquisition and product delivery knowledge, and an understanding of rigorous engineering design processes to successfully address national security mission needs.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 100% of the time.
Salary Range:
$149,700 - $254,400
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- A Master's degree in a STEM discipline, plus four (4) years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
- -OR- A Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline, plus eight (8) years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
- A minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated leadership experience in the Nuclear Deterrence enterprise.
- Must have an active DOE Q-level security clearance (or equivalent, such as SCI or DOD Top Secret) to start.
Qualifications We Desire:
In addition to the qualifications we require, it is desired that the selected candidate has these qualifications:
- Demonstrated leadership experience outside of the Nuclear Deterrence enterprise.
- Excellent presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills with internal and external customers.
- Demonstrated ability to attract, engage, and develop hard-working/impactful staff.
- Demonstrated ability to manage execution of high consequence projects on schedule and within budget.
- Active DOE SCI level security clearance.

Security Clearance:
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
