About the role:

As the People Partner Lead, you’ll be more than a traditional HR Business Partner—you’ll be a trusted advisor, sounding board, and operational catalyst for product leaders and engineers who work on our flagship offerings with proven product-market fit. While the pace is still fast and innovation is paramount, the role also requires supporting teams that must maintain and extend the success of well-established products, ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional quality, reliability, and continual improvement.

You will partner closely with leaders to design organizational structures that keep pace with growth, and create environments where cross-functional teams can iterate, improve, and maintain customer trust. You’ll ensure that the drive for innovation is balanced with the need for operational excellence, using your people strategies to strengthen teams as they build and refine products that are already impacting customers worldwide.

This is a remote position open to candidates based in the US.

In this role, you will: 

  • Strategic Advisory: Partner with product managers, engineering leads, and cross-functional stakeholders supporting both core and next-gen products. Understand product roadmaps, market dynamics, and team maturity. Design people strategies that enable sustainable innovation, maintain product excellence, and support long-term growth.
  • Organizational Design & Culture: Help teams evolve their structures and norms to maintain a startup-like energy while scaling established, revenue-generating products. Implement frameworks that retain agility and speed while reinforcing best practices for consistent quality and delivery.
  • Talent Development & Engagement: Spend time with teams—attend stand-ups, product reviews, and planning sessions. Identify skill gaps and emerging talent. Create tailored development pathways that keep experienced contributors engaged while also nurturing newer talent to grow into leadership roles.
  • Performance & Accountability: Foster a high-performance environment that encourages both iterative experimentation and disciplined execution. Coach managers to hold direct, honest performance conversations that emphasize consistent delivery, customer satisfaction, and ongoing innovation.
  • Employee Experience & Retention: Be the advocate and voice for employees at every level. Translate feedback into actionable solutions that strengthen morale, deepen team cohesion, and support retention—ensuring team members are excited to tackle both incremental improvements and significant product leaps.
  • Change Management & Communication: Guide teams through organizational shifts, product pivots, and evolving priorities in the market. Clearly communicate the rationale behind changes, helping everyone understand how sustaining product-market fit and delighting customers ties into the broader innovation journey.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Use people analytics to identify trends in performance, engagement, and retention. Apply these insights to drive continuous improvement, ensuring that our teams remain focused, innovative, and effective at delivering both incremental value and groundbreaking features.
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Ownership Mindset: You embrace the “it’s all my job” attitude, readily diving into details and solving problems to ensure teams have everything they need to succeed.
  • Startup/Midsize Experience: You’ve thrived in environments blending innovation with pragmatism—balancing quick iteration cycles with the discipline needed to support established, market-leading products.
  • Proven People Partner Leadership: 5+ years in a People Partner, HR Business Partner, or similar role supporting technical or product-focused teams. Experience guiding teams through both scaling and maturation phases is a plus. 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Influence & Communication: You excel at having honest, sometimes tough conversations. Your communication style is direct yet empathetic, building trust and clarity even amid change.
  • Data Fluency: You know how to leverage people metrics and insights to inform decision-making, measure success, and iterate on people strategies.

Samsara’s Compensation Philosophy: Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver Total Direct Compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is at or above market. We do this through our base salary + bonus/variable + restricted stock unit awards (RSUs) for eligible roles.  For eligible roles, a new hire RSU award may be awarded at the time of hire, and additional RSU refresh grants may be awarded annually. 

We pay for performance, and top performers in eligible roles may receive above-market equity refresh awards which allow employees to achieve higher market positioning.

The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
