About the role:

Samsara’s Hardware Quality team enables an exceptional customer experience by building reliable hardware, identifying opportunities to improve the customer experience, and engaging cross-functionally to resolve key issues. In this role, a successful candidate will help build our Embedded Systems (HW/FW) Automation Test Framework. This key role will enable teams to ship high-quality products, ship FW updates to our customers faster, and facilitate quality investigations.

This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week in our San Francisco office and 2 days working remotely. Housing and relocation will be supported as part of the role. At this time, we are not accepting first or second-year undergraduate students.

In this role, you will: 

  • Build and maintain test infrastructure (SW, FW, and HW) to perform automated testing across Samsara’s current product portfolio and future designs. 
  • Use your passion for testing software, firmware, and hardware to build a solution that stresses our embedded systems and helps identify failure points to improve the design, reliability and performance of our products.
  • Build the framework for testing our hardware/firmware platforms by working closely with the development team (FW, EE, ME, NPI) to define product test plans and ensure we have complete test coverage.
  • Test and verify features of the test infrastructure and manage the cross-organizational deployment and training.
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices

Required requirements for the role:

  • Pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering graduating in 2026.
  • Python programming skills and Scripting skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Automated Test Frameworks and Software Tools. 

Preferred requirements for the role:

  • Understanding of IoT hardware.
  • Understanding of Software Development.
  • Experience building Automated Test Frameworks and Software Tools for Product Development and Validation.
  • Experience creating and implementing test cases for wireless protocols.
  • Experience with test instrumentation, including the use of power supplies, power analyzers, battery simulators, call boxes, and GPS simulators.
  • Experience building and maintaining automation testing infrastructure.
  • Experience testing devices with wireless protocols including BLE, WiFi, LTE, and GNSS.
  • Experience with data analysis tools/packages such as SQL, Pandas, databricks, etc
The range of hourly base salary for this position is below. Please note that base hourly pay may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
$38.41$45.19 USD
