The software engineer role at Salesforce encompasses architecture, design, implementation, and testing to ensure we build products right and release them with high quality.

Your Impact

As a Principal Engineer, your job responsibilities will include:

  • Build new and exciting components in an ever-growing and evolving market technology to provide scale and efficiency.
  • Develop high-quality, production-ready code that can be used by millions of users of our applications
  • Make design decisions on the basis of performance, scalability, and future expansion.
  • Work in a Hybrid Engineering model and contribute to all phases of SDLC including design, implementation, code reviews, automation, and testing of the features.
  • Build efficient components/algorithms on a microservice multi-tenant SaaS cloud environment
  • Code review, mentoring junior engineers, and providing technical guidance to the team (depending on the seniority level)

Required Skills

Technical Expertise:

  • 12+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on scalable and distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages like Java, C++, Python, JavaScript, or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform).
  • Proven expertise in deploying models to production using cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Hands on experience with AI model lifecycle: training, fine-tuning, optimization, and deployment.

Architectural Skills:

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing large-scale systems with microservices architecture.
  • Expertise in API design, integration patterns, and RESTful web services.
  • Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and database technologies (SQL/NoSQL).
  • Strong understanding of LLMs, neural networks, reinforcement learning, and other advanced AI methodologies.
  • Knowledge of event-driven architectures and messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, and search algorithms is a plus.

Leadership:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to lead the design and implementation of complex AI systems.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions and present complex ideas to stakeholders.

Problem-Solving:

  • Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving complex technical issues.
  • A track record of shipping impactful AI features at scale.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and optimizing performance for cloud-based applications.

Communication:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Additional Requirements

  • Experience with Salesforce products and ecosystems is a plus.
  • Proficiency in DevOps practices, including monitoring, logging, and operational excellence.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML technologies and their application in enterprise software.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
  • Expertise in security best practices, including encryption, identity management, and secure coding.
  • Proven ability to work in agile environments, managing and delivering multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or a strong presence in technical communities is a plus.
  • A track record of driving innovation and influencing product roadmaps.
