We are seeking a highly skilled, expert Infrastructure Software Engineer join our team! The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, with significant experience in system design, distributed systems and AI / ML. This role involves working closely with a diverse team of engineers to design, implement, and review software solutions to automate compute and network infrastructure lifecycle operations at scale across Salesforce's physical data center footprint. This role will also contribute to the development of a comprehensive infrastructure health and change safety platform tasked with ensuring rapid detection of service/infrastructure fabric performance degradation and root cause analysis in Salesforce's cloud infrastructure environments. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop resilient closed loop infrastructure automation and change safety platforms/features to ensure our customers experience the highest levels of availability.
  • Lead design and implementation of services/features with a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Translate business vision and architecture into well-engineered solutions that best leverage our platforms and products.
  • Develop and implement distributed systems, ensuring alignment with business objectives and architectural north star.
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to the junior members of the engineering team.
  • Fix and resolve sophisticated technical issues.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years of proven experience as a Software Engineer, with a focus on system design and distributed systems.
  • Strong experience with modern software architectural principles and distributed system design patterns.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Experience in building and managing systems integrations, data processing pipelines, and fault tolerant distributed systems.
  • Deep knowledge of programming and technical fluency with at least one of the following programming languages: Golang, Java, Ruby, Python
  • Excellent understanding of the software development life cycle and agile methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience mentoring and influencing the contributions of junior engineers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts and lead design reviews.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud technologies and microservices architecture.
  • Prior experience with AI/ML and/or statistical analysis models to inform production automation at scale.
  • Ability to evaluate a problem space and make a technology decision based on what's best for the customer.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or a strong portfolio of original projects.

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $184,000 to $306,600.

For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $200,800 to $334,600.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
