Senior/Lead Network Engineer

Description
Salesforce is looking for a Network Engineer to join Salesforce's Network Engineering team. This team facilitates the deployment of critical initiatives with a main focus on network patching, routing, switching and load-balancing function of Salesforce's 1P network infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Plan, Design, Develop, Implement and Operate Cisco, Juniper, F5(LTM, GTM) and other network appliances serving Salesforce's internal and external applications.
- Work closely with automation teams in defining and developing the tools that enable us to handle the configuration of network equipment (F5, Cisco, Juniper etc) in Cloud Scale datacenters.
- Develop and maintain scripts/power-tools that help with configuration deployment on different kinds of network equipment(Cisco, F5, Juniper, etc.).
- Drive service ownership for the Network Engineering teams; assist in efforts to streamline problem and organizational change processes and increase automation.
- Provide network support for service impairments or outages.
- Perform high-level fix and analysis to determine the root cause when network outages occur during network maintenances.
- Isolate hardware and software problems on network devices and work with vendors to resolve issues as vital.
- Assisting in mitigating security vulnerabilities in OS and configuration across different network vendors(Cisco, F5, Juniper etc).
- Perform proactive network maintenance, such as code upgrades, config updates and cleanup/decoms on various network devices such as Switches, Routers and Load-balancers
- Join forces with engineering teams to identify ways in which we can proactively improve the stability of the network and decrease potential for future outages.
- Ensure detailed processes are followed while providing vital feedback focussed on safety and agility of the processes involved.
Required Qualifications
- High level of proficiency and experience with TCP/IP networking, architecture and core technologies, such as BGP, OSPF, ISIS, DNS, HTTP, etc.
- Solid experience working in a Unix/Linux environment.
- Practitioner-level network automation skills using DevOps and CI/CD pipeline practices.
- Established track record with the usage of version control tools like git.
- Demonstrable experience with developing and using Ansible tools (cli and playbooks) to manage network equipment of various makes/models.
- Solid grasp of protocol analysis tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, ping, netstat.
- Experience deploying and leading large-scale distributed network environments with focus on automation.
- Validated competency in PKI infrastructure.
- Verified proficiency of firewalls and access-list configuration and troubleshooting.
- Documented success with system performance methodologies along with hands-on empirical monitoring and data-driven decision-making.
- Strong analytical approach to problem-solving and ability to fix sophisticated issues quickly, while efficiently prioritizing multiple priorities.
- Must work well as part of a team in a high-energy environment; must possess good written and verbal communication skills and good time-management abilities.
- A relevant technical degree required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experiences with F5 GTM and LTM installation, engineering, administration, and life cycle management including advanced iRules and diagnosing.
- Understanding of the different load balancing options & features including Persistence, SSL client / server profiles, HTTP profiles.
- Highly skilled in packet analysis, network analysis tools, problem solving, and analytical fault diagnosis.
- Proficiency in scripting/programming with Python, Golang, Perl, etc.
