MuleSoft is seeking a principal engineer with significant domain experience in Identity and Access Management. Our mission is to shepherd our mature and capable cloud platform into convergence with the larger Salesforce platform. This means unifying on a single root of identity and a single set of permissions constructs. It is a dramatic product challenge to reimagine our integrated suite of capabilities as native elements in the Salesforce platform, and a dramatic technical challenge to realize our goal without disrupting MuleSoft's current multibillion dollar business. Your contribution will result in compounding Salesforce's product value and the continued rapid adoption of MuleSoft's industry-leading integration and automation solutions.
In this role, you collaborate with over a dozen teams to solve hard engineering problems around security, availability, scalability, streaming, replication, and user experience. You'll champion our mission to deliver highly available, high throughput, and highly performant services. You'll contribute to our on call rotation by responding to and resolving incidents in real time for our customers. You'll advance our tradition of operational excellence by developing robust automation, monitoring, alerting, and remediation solutions
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and UX stakeholders to design the future of MuleSoft Access Management
- Perform hands-on software development that is highly leveraged (eg. building proofs-of-concept)
- Serve as technical ambassador between MuleSoft Access Management team and dependent teams and teams upon whom we are dependent
- Drive technical designs through the architecture process
- Serve as the Identity and Access Management domain expert within a high performing, fast paced, distributed systems web engineering team
- Serve as thought leader on Identity and Access Management and mentor engineers across MuleSoft in this domain
Requirements:
- Proficiency in Identity and Access Management fundamentals
- Knowledge of containerization technologies like Kubernetes and Helm
- Experience with testing frameworks and practices
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming concepts
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Solid understanding of relational databases
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in platform engineering in a large technology product company
- Experience with PostgreSQL
- Experience in Java and Spring Boot framework/ JavaScript, node.js
- Experience with microservices architecture and design patterns
- Familiarity with AWS services
- Knowledge of cloud-native development practices and computing
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with Terraform and Hashicorp Vault.

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $204,400 to $341,900.
For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $223,000 to $372,900.
Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
