The Tableau Data & Analytics (D&A) Architect is an enterprise-wide, customer-facing expert with a broad range of technical skills, deep industry knowledge, and exceptional business acumen. This role supports sales teams by developing Tableau and Salesforce C360 value propositions that align with customers' business strategies focused on data-led digital experiences and related use cases. As a subject matter expert in areas such as business strategy, AI, Data, Analytics, Governance, and Security Architectures, the D&A Architect uses strong sales skills and proven consultative approaches to engage with customers, defining their data and analytics transformation journey and outlining the steps to achieve it.

Here is an overview of a D&A Architect's daily responsibilities:

  • Assist customers in developing their Data, Analytics, and AI strategies by focusing on business capabilities, maturity, and data readiness. Understand customer needs and align them with the company's products and services, leveraging best-in-class technology to define the future state target. Help prioritize and sequence the data transformation by proposing a strategic roadmap. Lead key discussions around digital experiences, personas, use case journeys, and Data & Analytics patterns from both business and technical perspectives.
  • Determine which Tableau, Salesforce C360, and third-party technologies to incorporate into the customer's architecture landscape based on product knowledge, industry experience, industry-standard D&A frameworks, and Tableau Architecture methodologies.
  • Clearly articulate digital experiences (mission/vision, D&A business capabilities, assessments) and technical architecture (current and future state diagrams, solution best practices, reference architectures, design patterns) to an executive audience.
  • Provide reliable and trusted data-rich Points of View (PoVs) on relatable customer transformations, illustrating how other customers with similar needs have successfully transformed.
  • Travel to customer engagements, approximately 30% of the month. This position may support one or more geographies and account teams.
  • Actively collaborate with account executives and solution engineers to develop opportunities for customer-facing D&A architecture engagements. Continuously promote and communicate the value of D&A Architecture within the solution engineering community, as well as the broader sales and customer success organizations.
  • Participate in all relevant product/sales training, certifications, educational sessions, and industry summits to acquire and maintain the knowledge necessary to be effective in the position.
  • Share engagement experiences with internal audiences to enrich collective intellectual property.

Your Impact

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to CDAO, CIO and Chief Architect contacts and their teams, assisting them in democratizing data and decision-making across their organizations.
  • Be a valuable asset to Tableau and Salesforce, leveraging extensive and in-depth knowledge of business and D&A architecture across all relevant domains.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems or equivalent
  • 8+ years experience in either software, system, Data & Analytics Architecture disciplines
  • Good understanding of enterprise data & analytics platforms & technologies as well as common Data & Analytics topics such as persona-based journeys, insights to actions, data management, catalogs, governance, operating models etc.
  • Good understanding of and ability to discuss Cloud Architectures, infosec, compliance, performance & scale.
  • Prior background in building & delivering enterprise wide data & analytics capabilities.
  • Deep industry or vertical solutions is a plus
  • Articulate and balanced in demeanor with crisp written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a pre-sales role or customer-facing consultative role
  • Experience with and deep understanding of key business drivers and technical architecture
  • Working knowledge of Tableau, Salesforce platform capabilities & Data Engineering landscape
  • Experience with and exposure to architectural frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, etc.
  • Familiar with design thinking and similar principles
  • Familiar with relevant (regional, vertical, etc.) data privacy, risk management, and compliance requirements
