Learning and Development Manager

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Although no job description can cover all duties in detail, the following is a summary of the primary responsibilities for this position: The L&D Manager's main role is to oversee the hotel's development and training initiatives. The position reports to the Director of Human Resources.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Supports Salamander University goals and staff completion of on-line sessions.
  • Follows up on Forbes Energizers and any FTG driven programs.
  • Organizes Forbes Training, pre-arrival agenda, during and post action plans.
  • Collaborate with managers and departmental trainers on learning goals and action plans.
  • Make sure new hire training packets are thorough and a professional presentation.
  • Ensures line-ups in all departments are effective, informative, brief, standards focused and motivating, taking place consistently.
  • Works in tandem with Corporate Trainer addressing Hotel Bennett training needs.
  • Follow up and tracks on 30-90 days, ensuring completion. Maintain spreadsheet.
  • Instructs or organizes Alcohol Awareness and ServSafe certification.
  • Organizes and facilitates Hotel Orientation.
  • Ensures OSHA training is compliant.
  • Organizes ABC's delivery of leadership classes in tandem with appropriate department. leaders and Human Resources.
  • Audits dept. training manuals and new hire training packets.
  • Audit departmental sequence of services when needed.
  • Conducts Manager's Orientation in tandem with HR team, quarterly.
  • Coordinates with Loss Prevention Director, CPR, OSHA training.
  • Attends career fairs with HR Manager.
  • Ensures HR updates in EDR TV
  • Announces monthly promotions and Fun Facts announcement for new managers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must have hotel or resort experience. Please do not apply without.
  • Training and Development, Human Resources or Hospitality field of study.
  • Bachelor's degree or two to three (2-3) years of experience in a related area.
  • Familiarity with aspects of human resource functions, exposure to confidential information, a plus.
  • TIPS/ServSafe Alcohol, ServSafe Food Certification, a plus.
  • Ability to read, write and to speak Spanish, a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Publisher, Word, Excel, Outlook, PPT required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to lift twenty-five (25) lbs throughout the day.
  • This is not a 100% desk job as it requires visiting various departments throughout the hotel on a daily basis. 25% administrative activities at desk.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform tasks with attention to detail, speed accuracy, and follow-through.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Adhere to all health department, sanitation and safety regulation as required by the hotel.
  • Set up and organize workstation with designated supplies and equipment.
  • Replenish supplies and equipment as needed during the shift.
  • Report faulty equipment, maintenance needs and safety hazards immediately to your supervisor.
