POSITION OBJECTIVE
Responsible for the positive experience of guests through effective greeting upon arrival and a proper thank you upon departure. Adhere and follow Food and Beverage culture and vision in accordance to F&B core standards. A keen desire to provide exceptional hospitality is essential to being successful and obtaining satisfaction from hosting our guests.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for the positive experience of guests through effective greeting upon arrival and a proper thank you upon departure.
- Adhere to and follow Food and Beverage culture and vision in accordance to F&B core standards.
- Control the flow of work in the room by seating guests in station rotation while maintaining guest lists using OpenTable tool.
- Successfully complete all assigned side work, both opening and closing, and be available and ready to begin service on time at the beginning of your scheduled shift.
- Take incoming telephone calls, note reservations and special requests by guests. Handle reservations for Gabrielle diners as well as for Camellias Afternoon Tea.
- Make outgoing telephone calls to confirm booked reservations for Gabrielle diners as well as for Camellias Afternoon Tea.
- Work effectively with all Service Professionals, such as culinary, server assistants, hosts, and management, ensuring efficient and effective teamwork.
- Maintain your work area. Host stand needs to be clean and in an organized fashion at all times.
- Perform any general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products to adhere to health standards.
- It is expected that your attendance can be relied upon, and that tardiness will not be an issue. Tardiness and/or unexcused absences will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination. If you are running late or sick and unable to report to work, you must call and speak with a manager on duty prior to shift start time (text and/or email message is not sufficient).
- Breaks: Never disappear without asking a manager on duty for permission. This includes pre-shift and post-shift duties.
- Attend daily line ups and all mandatory meetings to be well-informed about events, promotions and other news concerning Hotel Bennett.
- Use of mobile devices during shifts is restricted to emergency use only. Violation of personal phone calls, including texting, FaceTime, etc. will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
- Gum chewing, eating and drinking in front of guests / in public areas are not permitted.
- Follow the Appearance Policy regarding grooming, uniform and hygiene standards.
- In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions, to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Must be 18 years of age or older (minimum age to serve alcohol).
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English to facilitate the communication process.
- Social skills are required in addressing and dealing with difficult situations and individuals, and an overall knowledge of proper etiquette and a sense of decorum are required.
- Demonstrate knowledge of food and beverage core values, Hotel Bennett service standards, and complete understanding of Forbes standards.
- Must possess basic computational ability.
- Be proficient in the use of OpenTable reservation tool.
- Must have complete working knowledge of Outlook email tool.
- Know all table numbers and seat position numbers (Gabrielle Lower/Upper Level, Lounge, Terrace and Plaza).
- Knowledge of all dining services with regard to which menus to offer to guests.
- Understand how to operate the equipment used in the outlet and to protect all assets in the outlet and in the hotel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens (+110°F).
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for a minimum of 8 hours in length. Walking and standing are required for the majority of the work day and possibly for 8 hours or more.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
- Must be able to work effectively in a stressful environment, communicate with others, effectively deal with guests and accept constructive criticism from supervisors.
- Must be able to change activity frequently and cope with interruptions.
