The Toxicology Specialist ensures Saint-Gobain's products are safe for our employees, customers, and the environment by providing substance level hazard characterization to support the hazard communication program and generating toxicological data summaries and risk assessments as part of product toxicology risk evaluation to support product stewardship reviews. This key Product Stewardship & Compliance team member collaborates with internal stakeholders to meet Saint-Gobain's product stewardship and sustainability goals. The Toxicology Specialist also supports product toxicology testing in collaboration with various business units and R&D, develops processes to support the product stewardship and toxicology programs, and responds to internal or external customer inquiries.

Regulatory Toxicology
- Support toxicological risk assessment (hazard identification, exposure assessment, and risk characterization) preparations for new and existing products to support R&D product development and/or product stewardship reviews
- Provides oversight of acute and in vitro testing programs at contract laboratories.
- Maintain knowledge of emerging toxicology and ecotoxicology relevant to Saint-Gobain businesses and products and identify potential risk in regulatory toxicology area and work with Product Stewardship & Compliance, Legal, businesses, and R&D to manage risk
- Respond to internal and external customer inquiries about hazard classification, health effects or exposures related to our products or manufacturing processes
Documentation
- Critically evaluate and synthesize toxicological literature to prepare toxicology profile for product components or raw materials
- Perform hazard classification and develop appropriate summaries/documentation to support the hazard communication program
Planning, Management and Execution
- Develop toxicology procedures that support business unit programs to ensure safety and health protection to employees, customers and the communities that may be exposed to our product.
- Work as part of a cross-functional team having regular communications with key internal stakeholders including, EHS, sales/marketing, product management, quality, R&D, product stewardship and compliance and customer service
Required Qualifications
What do you bring?
- Bachelors Degree in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Biology, or related sciences required.
- Masters Degree Toxicology, Pharmacology, Biology, or related sciences preferred.
- 5+ years experience in product toxicological risk assessment required, manufacturing industry experience preferred.
- 5+ years experience in developing toxicology procedures that support business unit programs
- Advanced technical writing ability required
- Highly motivated, proactive, and persistent; strong interpersonal/negotiating skills; analytical problem-solver
- Skilled in standard Microsoft Office Software (i.e., Microsoft Office, Sharepoint, etc.)
- Strong communicator and collaborating skills with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
