Job Summary
The Plant Sr. Operations Manager will begin the position as the L2 Start Up Manager. Following the successful start of L2 operations the role will be responsible for production, active storage, mill, maintenance, and warehousing functions, ensuring the efficient operation of the Gypsum Board plant - achieving safety, quality, service, and cost goals. This position is responsible for the overall success of the plant - having direct responsibility for much of the hourly workforce and how they are trained. The role impacts the success or failure of the business. Leading a 24/7 manufacturing operation, responsible for all equipment and physical plant maintenance. A strong understanding of manufacturing cost drivers and a solid knowledge of peer functional areas like Production, Process & Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, Employee Relations, Purchasing, Materials processing, and Continuous Improvement. This position will influence with and without authority. The broad scope of knowledge in Continuous improvement (WCM) methodologies, and OSHA; along with federal and state environmental requirements, supports this position representing the business on new product development teams and during regulatory audits in the absence of the Plant Manager. The Operations Manager has accountability for overall plant operations, focusing on controllable cost budget development and attainment. This position also acts as the Plant Manager during their absence.

During the construction, commissioning and start up of L2 the Plant Operations Manager's primary function will be focused on the second line in the position of L2 Start Up Manager. The Start Up Manager will liaison with the strategic process team and Major Equipment Suppliers to ensure all the success of the commissioning, hiring, training, AM/PM activities, spares, and maintenance planning and the line start up are performed to plan. The Start Up Manager is also responsible for the operational budget for all start up activities and will work closely with the GMT Project Commissioning Manager to ensure best practices follow for startups.
Primary duties for first 12- 18 months in role are startup manager for L2 project. Post a successful startup of L2, the candidate will assume the role of Sr. Operations manager for the Palatka Plant.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS in business, engineering, or a related field (preferred, or equivalent experience)
- 8-10 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment
- 5+ years in Technical Operations, with increasing levels of responsibility and autonomy
- Intermediate knowledge of manufacturing and employee relations
- Strong understanding of Safety and Health requirements for government organizations and SG standards
- Strong aptitude with systems - with demonstrated ability to streamline processes
- Analytical skills to assess current operations and plan future needs - budgetary and capacity
- Outstanding organizational skills are required for success in this role
- Ability to develop and lead directly, across and upline in the organization
- Strong aptitude for working in cross-functional teams
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft products
- Strong ability for Public Speaking and presentation development and presentation
