The Manufacturing Automation Engineer & System Developer will provide development expertise for software development projects across the Garden Grove site businesses.

The main responsibility of the position is to carry out user requirements elicitation, design user interfaces, databases and software architecture, carry out development activities, support with deployment of new software and updates. The role will also be responsible for improving and maintaining the development workflow and environments which will include either developing or managing the implementation of workflow automation.
- The individual should also be prepared to create, modify, or guide the preparation of user documentation.
- The role must take personal responsibility for the ensuring product quality through continuous improvement of the development and deployment life cycle to ensure that our software is highly stable and easily validated

- Reduction in mean support requests for support systems (Ignition, PowerApps)
- Reduction in mean development time to minimum viable product
- Relevant Life Sciences Smart Factory Value KPI's
The responsibility covers 2 areas:
Product Lifecycle
- Using interviews, observation and workshops to ascertain user stories
- Creating and reviewing User Experience Designs with the end users
- Creation and Review of System Design Specifications and occasionally Functional Design Specifications
- Liaise with the INDEC validation team to prepare for and carry out software validation to CFR 21
- Design, develop and maintain the team's standard database schema
- Create and maintain the team's database documentation
- Support the creation and maintenance of the team's data dictionary
- Develop and manage the development of required functionality in the most suitable programming language (predominantly Python for Ignition projects)
- Produce well documented code with as much adherence to relevant standards relating to the programming language in use as possible
- Perform Code Reviews when required
- Perform QA testing when required
- Be responsible for creation and maintenance of user documentation and user training material
- Take personal responsibility for product success on site, the end user is the customer and they must be happy!
Development Process:
- Continuously Innovating to bring a richer, more engaging experience to our end users during requirements elicitation
- Support in continuously improving the Teams Internal Quality Assurance Process
- Support the automation of the teams Quality Assurance Processes (Test Driven Development)
- Support the growth of the team's Agile approach to product development
- Support the development of the team's processes around version control and wiki creation
- Support the creation and continuous improvement of the team's development and test environments, automation the team's code review processes, user documentation and user training processes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree - Engineer/Computer Sciences (Required)
- Higher Technical Qualification - Automation/Computer Science or similar (Required)
- 4+ years of experience in programming of software or control units, as a process/ maintenance engineer, in Industrial Networks and Systems, along with knowledge of industry 4.0 principles (Required)
- Proficient in Python (Required)

Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees' wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is $77,400 to $120,100 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $85,100 to $132,100. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
