The Maintenance Technician 1 position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment. All Employees are required to demonstrate focused effort relative to their role in the following fundamental areas: Self-Management, Achieves Business Results, Communication, Solving Problems, Innovative Thinking, Teamwork, Encouraging Customer Focus, and Flexibility. Employees are further required to demonstrate focused effort in the fundamentals of Continuous Improvement, Technical Skills, and Meeting Standards. Accurately documents work into the CMMS on behalf of self and of the team. Subject Matter Expert on designated processes and equipment and serves as the primary trainer for the team. Qualified FLT operator. Maintains and keeps current on all relevant safety training, standards, and procedures.

Essential Duties
- Working Safe. Follows procedures, checklists, and safety protocols.
- Provide on-shift production support.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment.
- Provide corrective repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Use a variety of hand, machining, fabrication, and power tools, including but not limited to volt meters, grinders, drills, manual mills & lathes, GWAW & GTAW welders, and band saws in performing duties.
- Perform simple manual machinist and fabricator tasks in support of production equipment and machinery repair.
- Fabricate new and replacement parts according to blueprints or shop/engineering drawings, specification sheets, and measurements taken from existing machinery.
- Participate in and support continuous improvement activities.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Document work as appropriate.
- Performs data entry into SAP, FIIX, and all in-use data systems.
- Fork Lift Truck certified.
- Subject Matter Expert on designated processes and equipment, Trainer for shift personnel.
- Performs Predictive, Preventative, and Corrective Maintenance for all equipment and facilities as assigned.
- Keep equipment and maintenance shop clean and free of debris and stocked for incoming shifts.
- Complete all necessary paperwork (i.e. work orders), and read and understand specifications for all procedures.
- Keep supervisors and teammates informed of all problems or relative maintenance concerns.
- Work closely with team members to be more efficient, troubleshooting problems and helping find new or better solutions.
- Participate in and promote continuous improvement ideas.
- Responsible for part and service purchases.
- Expense reporting and keeping with department budgetary guidance and spending discipline.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Support Management initiatives including but not limited to continuous improvements and safety improvements and initiatives
Required Qualifications
Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required
- AAS degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance with a minimum of 2 years of directly related industrial maintenance and fabrication experience required. Or, High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship with 3 years related experience, or 6 years of production maintenance experience
- Thorough knowledge of test equipment, measuring systems, and familiarity with mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Ability to operate hoists, cranes, and metalworking tools and work off ladders, scaffolds, or lifts as required in a safe manner.
- Comprehensive knowledge of machining and fabrication techniques and equipment.
- Strong mathematical skills, with proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, procedures, and diagrams.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Knowledgeable in lock-out tag-out procedures

Working Conditions
Long hours are sometimes necessary to meet deadlines. Night shift work is required for some candidates. The working environment will include extended periods of standing and seasonal temperature extremes occur during peak summer months. These environments may include exposure to industrial solvents, above-average noise levels, and hazardous materials, all of which must be mitigated with Personal Protective Equipment.
Physical Demands
Must be capable of wearing Personal Protective Equipment necessary to comply with government and company safety standards, whenever engineered methods of reducing hazards or physical requirements cannot be reasonably accommodated. Job includes tasks that require bending, lifting materials weighing up to 50lbs., twisting, gripping, reaching, and fine manipulation. May require long periods of standing.
