Job Summary

What's the job?

The Engineering Manager will manage the engineering roadmap driving a continuous improvement culture across the CBI organization and provide expert technical guidance for engineering initiatives in both new and existing production lines in 24/7/365 environments.

This position can be based in Little Rock, AR or Mt Pleasant, TN

Essential Functions

Engineering - 60% of the time

Capital Projects

  • Conceptualize, plan, and execute small to large (>$5MM) projects both in home plants and other locations as needed in various plants.
  • Work with external engineering firms to design and construct buildings and processes.
  • Supervise and direct internal and contract personnel in the execution of projects.
  • Track KPIs and manage to meet project and business objectives.
  • Communicate as appropriate inside and outside the company.

Plant Support

  • Direct support of daily operations as needed in the home plant with regard to all plant and process equipment.
  • Design of all equipment
  • Facility-wide responsibility for risk management
  • Design and implementation of projects and activities pertaining to plant infrastructure and utilities (electrical, water, access control, plant air, RO water.)
  • Assist the maintenance group with high-level troubleshooting of equipment and processes.
  • Recommends, modifies, or updates equipment as needed to improve reliability and productivity

WCM - 20% of the time

  • Responsible for achieving the safety, quality, service, and financial objectives through the completion of projects at 6 North American manufacturing facilities.
  • Identify and lead business improvement initiatives supporting the WCM objectives.
  • Utilize best practice methods and provide expert technical guidance to ensure all projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with the organization's priorities, established policies, and objectives and result in safe, quality, customer-centric, and cost-effective output.

People Leader - 20% of the time

  • Coach, train, and develop direct reports to achieve business goals and to foster career development and organizational succession plans.

Required Qualifications

What do you bring?

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other technical discipline is required
  • Ten (10) years in a Manufacturing/Industrial Environment
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience required
  • Demonstrate ability to understand complex manufacturing processes and translate them into WCM and/or optimization opportunities.
  • Demonstrate analytical and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. A high degree of interpersonal skill is required as the incumbent must successfully interact with, and influence, others within various functional groups and client organizations.
  • Proven Project Management skills
  • Proven ability to work independently

Additional Description

  • Three (3) years of experience with Six Sigma/Lean Methodology preferred
  • Saint-Gobain Black Belt or equivalent via external association
  • One (1) year of Saint-Gobain WCM preferred
