Job Summary
What's the job?
This position is responsible for the general fixed asset accounting, capital lease accounting and related reporting functions for all North American business units. Additionally, being proactive in meeting customer needs and requirements pertaining to all service requirements related to fixed asset accounting & reporting. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Monthly Close Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Service Provider and customer to comply with the Region, HPS and CSG Consolidation closing calendar. Monitor and report on compliance with fixed asset deadlines by SSC and Service Provider.
- Anticipate month end closing process to ensure smooth and efficient fixed asset & CIP closing process. Advise customer and Service Provider of unplanned events in advance of closing with necessary documents.
- Assist or guide preparation of unplanned journal entry request pertaining to CIP, impairments, capitalizations, etc as needed for Service Provider postings. Ensure journal entries are posted timely and accurately with proper substantiation by Service Provider. These include recurring and non-standard entries, either prepared by the incumbent or the customer
- Confirm all fixed asset related journal entries and system processes required for closing per closing checklists are completely posted. Assist Service Provider in obtaining supporting documentation to ensure timely and complete justification and posting.
- Support Service Provider in Fixed Asset accounting with proper inputs or approvals for exceptions to depreciation, retirements or transfer policy. Also, provide Appropriation Requests on capital expenditures. Provide CAPX investment and processing procedures. Approve CIP quarterly reports prepared by Service Provider.
- Analyze and review Service Provider reconciliations of fixed asset, CIP, Impairment, Intangible assets, and step up balance sheet accounts that have a wide diversity in size and complexity. Ensure reconciling items are identified and resolved timely. Field and answer Service Provider queries on accounts.
- Provide support to the monthly preparation of federal and state income tax provisions by Service Provider as it pertains to deferred assets schedules including fixed assets.

Financial Reporting
- Support the preparation of SRU financial reports on behalf of the customer. Including providing key fixed asset data elements and business information to Service Provider for input into respective packages as needed. Complete review of SIF fixed asset schedules prior to publishing.
- Provide fixed asset support to the Tax Department, ensuring detailed legal entity schedules and reports are complete, accurate and delivered on time
- Review and approve management reports and analyses pertaining to fixed assets and CIP prepared by Service Provider, including CIP aging reporting.
- Drive completion of annual tax package fixed asset schedules for all North American legal entities. Review and approve Service Providers compilation of tax package schedule and deliver to the SG Tax group on time.
Controls, Compliance and Customer Service Levels
- Adhere to SSC and customer policies and procedures.
- Maintain up to date documentation for daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual tasks.
- Comply with North American and Group Doctrine accounting standards for fixed asset accounting, reporting and transaction processing.
- Lead or participate on the remediation of fixed asset related action plans.
- Respond to information requests in support of compliance, tax, and financial audits, both internal and external.
Required Qualifications
What do you bring?
- BS Business Administration/Accounting required. Master's degree is a plus.
- Professional Certification (CPA, CMA) is a plus
- 5-7 years of general accounting experience in a large, complex international business is preferred with intimate exposure to fixed asset accounting. Prior experience servicing internal customers in a shared service utilizing outsourced service provider organization is a plus.
- Experience with integrated ERP and financial reporting systems. Demonstrated experience with fixed asset solutions for book and tax basis including intangible assets, CIP and impairments
- Strong knowledge of and practical experience with internal controls is preferred.
- Ability to operate within established accounting and reporting guidelines. Solid grasp of technical accounting principles with experience working with GAAP and IFRS is preferred.
- Ability to hold a collaborative partnership with outsource Front Office and Tower Leads
- Ability to coach outsourced team members, managing across company, geography, time zone, and culture. Ability to understand cultural differences
- Process management skills for in-house and out-sourced staff and work
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools.
