As a Utility-Scale Development Intern, you'll play a vital role in supporting our central region Utility-scale Development team at RWE Clean Energy. This team is dedicated to initiating, developing, and acquiring utility-scale Solar, Wind, and Energy Storage projects in the US and Canada, with a specific focus on PJM West, MISO North, and SPP North markets. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the renewable energy sector and actively contribute to the development of utility-scale Solar, Wind, and Energy Storage projects. Working closely with our expert team, you'll explore the intricacies of project development from greenfielding to construction and delve into the critical aspects of project financial attractiveness. This is a full-time 12-week summer internship starting at the end of May in our Chicago office.

Responsibilities:
- Project Development: Assist in various aspects of utility-scale project development, including site assessments, permitting, environmental compliance, and project engineering
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project execution and ensure projects are aligned with RWE's strategy
- Financial Analysis: Gain insights into the financial aspects of projects, understanding the key drivers for their attractiveness
- Project Lifecycle: Be involved in the various phases of project development, from concept to construction, and understand the importance of each stage
- Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis to identify prospective project locations and optimize project competitiveness
- Continuous Learning: Participate in internal improvement initiatives, learning and growing within the dynamic renewable energy field
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited university program, actively pursuing a master's degree in an MBA or a closely related degree
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience in renewable energy infrastructure, with a focus on developing energy infrastructure projects in the US is preferred
- Passionate about renewable energy and a desire to learn about project development
- Proficient in project management, with a strong track record of successfully leading projects
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic
- Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
