Reporting to the Senior Director of Environmental, the Manager, Environmental Programs will ensure that RWE Clean Energy (RWECE) maintains compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations, and requirements. The manager will support the development of the Company's environmental initiatives across the full lifecycle of RWECE projects, from development through decommissioning.
Responsibilities:
- Works directly with the Senior Director and diverse, cross functional teams to successfully develop and implement environmental programs for all renewable energy assets in the US and Canada
- Leads the development of selected elements of RWECE's Environmental Management System (EMS) and generally support the development and implementation of the EMS in compliance with industry standards and best practices
- Assists the Senior Director, Environmental with development of Environmental Staff and implementation of group objectives
- Provides technical expertise to all phases of RWECE projects in any of several areas of environmental practice including but not limited to:

- Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), Environmental Assessments (EA) (i.e. NEPA, state level environmental review regulations, etc.)
- Threatened and/or endangered species issues and take permits (i.e. BGEPA, ESA, MBTA, etc.)
- Water and stormwater management for construction and operations (i.e. CWA, SWPPPs, etc.)
- Chemical management, including spill prevention and control (i.e. EPCRA, SPCC, etc.)
- Waste management (i.e. RCRA)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Civil/Environmental Engineering or related area of study
- Minimum 8 years' experience with environmental programs, including environmental permitting and compliance, in the energy industry, with a focus in renewable energy preferred
- Demonstrated experience with consulting, construction and/or operations, including field work
- Ability to analyze environmental regulatory and permit language for developing implementation guidance
- Writing environmental program documents to support protected species permitting
- Knowledge of protected species and ability to communicate through written and verbal communication
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships
- Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
- Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
- Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
- Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
- Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
- Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in New York is $117,600 - $176,400 . The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
