The Director BESS Project Engineering will lead the Solar PV design team reporting to the VP of Solar PV System; she/he will be accountable for the design of the Solar PV pipeline, manage resources and priorities, provide guidance to the team on PV development engineering, interface with internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to RWE Clean Energy's engineering and technology platform growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be accountable for the Solar PV project pipeline design with main output being technology selection, optimized layout and EPE (Estimated Energy Production) from origination to COD. This includes reviewing and verifying performance testing, and being responsible for IE responses during tax equity funding
- Provide mentorship, training and guidance to the solar PV design team (~4-5 people)
- Partner with the technology and methods team to apply developed standards and tools, and provide feedback for continuous improvements
- Align priorities and expectations with the development, M&A and I&V teams
- Work with GIS and civil engineering teams to ensure constraints and setbacks are incorporated into buildable areas and layouts
- Collaborate with preconstruction and construction teams to ensure site optimization for constructability and site readiness
- Work closely with procurement team to ensure appropriate allocation of equipment to projects

QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering Science, preferably in electrical engineering or civil engineering
- Minimum 15 years of experience, minimum 8 years of experience in solar PV and electrical design
- Minimum 4 years in managing a design/development engineering-focused team
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships
- Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
- Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
- Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
- Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
- Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
- Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
- Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
- This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWECE office and field locations
- Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time
Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois is $180,000 - $230,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
