The Director, Procurement - Indirect is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing Indirect Procurement Sourcing Strategies and Operations as well as supporting Early Development Procurement activities for our onshore wind, solar, and battery storage projects. You will optimize and further develop our procurement services support (systems, processes, statement of procedures, analytics, and compliance) and the management of our key suppliers.
Role Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of four Procurement Managers to support with tendering, negotiating and executing contracts
- Elaborate innovative procurement strategies for key indirect categories (e.g. IT, consulting services, facility management, etc.) as well as for the early stage development activities (e.g. feasibility studies, expert opinion and legal & regulatory services)
- Provide market analysis and set the basis for a sustainable supply chain during project execution
- Identify opportunities to optimize and streamline our procurement processes, from sourcing to payment (S2P), to ensure operational efficiency and cost savings. Implement best practices and leverage technology to drive automation and standardization
- Collaborate with Department leaders to manage stakeholder relationships and achieve buy-in for the Sourcing and Procurement strategies
- Work closely together with the Central RWE Indirect Procurement and the Project Development teams to gain synergies on procurement activities and to ensure compliance with Group wide standards and processes
- Track performance using metrics that enable acceleration of growth with a major focus on process efficiency, followed by a focus on reducing spend and total cost of ownership
- Support the team with personal development and training
- Set the team's objectives & performance manage
- Develop relationships with senior management within the RWE to determine business demands
- Develop tendering and contracting strategies to support RWE Americas' Growth Targets
- Manage the team in managing the full sourcing process (including demand/market analysis, RFI, RFPs, Negotiations, Contracting and Supplier Awarding) in close collaboration with key stakeholders and in line with RWE policies, procedures and processes

Job Requirements and Experiences:
- Bachelor's degree with preference for Engineering, Supply Chain, Construction or Business Management
- Minimum 15 years of relevant and similar working experience with significant people management experience building and coaching expert teams
- Expertise with spend category methodologies, multiple Indirect categories, including strategy formation, category management processes, stakeholder alignment, and negotiations
- Ability to work across all segments of the Procurement value chain - sourcing, contract management, procure-to-pay, eSourcing, supplier risk management and vendor management
- People management experience desirable
- Experience in applying efficient procurement processes, structures and analytical tools
- Experience of liaising with senior management within critical departments & building good relationships
- Highly developed analytical and communication skills, combined with a structured work style and a pragmatic hands-on approach
- Ability to challenge "conventional" thinking, considers others' views and convinces with facts considering a proactive approach to overcome resistance
- Strong eye for detail and ensuring accuracy in exchange of information and contracts
- Team player with strong negotiation skills and commercial acumen
- Experience and willingness to work independently in a fast-changing environment and in an international team
- Sound knowledge of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and SAP. Ability to learn new systems and tools rapidly
- Readiness to travel both nationally and internationally
- Business fluent proficiency in English. Spanish and German language skills are a benefit but not essential
- This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWECE office and field locations
- Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time
Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois or New York is $160,000 - $220,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
