The Control Room Operator is part of the Dispatch Operations team, which is responsible for the reliable operation of RWE Clean Energy resources within the North America Bulk Electric System footprint.The team monitors the performance of each interconnected generator in real-time and exercises control when needed to ensure the operation of the asset is in accordance with NERC and regional compliance standards (ERCOT, PJM, MISO, NYISO, SPP, CAISO).

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, monitor and control the real-time operation of RWE Clean Energy generation resources from the 24/7 Remote Operation Center (ROC)
  • Meet Generator Operator obligations as outlined in the Dispatch Desktop Procedures
  • Provide notification of events to internal and external stakeholders as needed
  • Receive and responds to Operating Instructions from Site Personnel, Balancing Authorities (BA), Transmission Operators (TOP), and Reliability Coordinators (RC)
  • Submit forced outage tickets and update resource availability and unit status within market portals and PCI
  • Perform ad-hoc data reporting to assist in the preparation of various reports regarding generation resource operation and performance
  • Work 12-hour shifts over days/nights/weekends and holidays as required by management
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the manager

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited school may substitute for 2 years of work experience
  • An Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited school may substitute for 1 year of work experience
  • A minimum 2 years of work experience in a technical-related position with at least 2 years of experience in power markets, power generation, transmission operations, or similar environment
  • PJM System Operator Certification is REQUIRED requiered
  • NERC System Operator Certification is optional
  • Experience with real-time applications OSI monarch, PI, and PCI
  • Basic IT networking competencies
  • System Operator market portal experience (ERCOT, PJM, MISO, SPP, NYISO, ISONE, and CAISO)
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks
  • Ability to multi-task while working independently and as part of a team
