Your future plans
As a member of Commercial Analysis Americas, you will perform all revenue analysis needed to inform major investment and commercial decisions for renewable energy projects (onshore wind, offshore wind, solar PV), batteries, and hydrogen project development, and to support the ambitious growth targets of RWE America organizations.
Our rapidly growing team has more than 15 professionals covering all major U.S. power markets. This role provides an excellent opportunity to work alongside experts in complex power market and energy project modeling from diverse backgrounds (engineering, consulting, academia, IPP, etc.). Your analysis and insights will support colleagues across other RWE teams including project development, power marketing, valuation, M&A, transmission, engineering, and more.
This role provides the opportunity to interact with teams from other RWE groups in Europe and Asia-Pacific, providing a global perspective on the pace and scale of the energy transition.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Make an impact on major financial decisions (investment, offtake, auction, M&A, etc.) in RWE's U.S. operations with the goal of maximizing commercial value for each specific project and the portfolio at large.
  • Guide the business to optimally balance commercial opportunities and risks.
  • Provide short / medium / long-term market insights and price forecasts for various U.S. power markets and products (power, capacity, ancillary services, renewable energy certificates, etc.), based on a clear understanding of market fundamentals, regulatory trends, renewable energy penetration, storage / demand response growth, etc.
  • Develop the best commercial strategy for RWE projects based on the project technology, market fundamentals, commodity price forecasts, LCoE development, competitor analysis, etc.
  • Develop key beliefs for RWE core markets and technologies (on / off-shore wind, solar, BESS, Hydrogen), and work with internal / external price forecast teams to produce consistent and coherent outlooks.
  • Act as point of contact for different stakeholders requests. Stay informed about the renewable industry updates, competitors' actions, regulatory shifts, and cost trends. Support offtake (PPA, RfP, auction) participation and strategy.
  • Provide key inputs / insights for Financial Investment Decisions, Company Strategy, RWE pipeline merit-orders, etc. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in financial and technical functions

Your powerful skills

  • Fundamental knowledge of US power markets and experience analyzing the economics of renewable energy sources and energy storage
  • Excellent analytical skills: ability to deduce the key messages from complex datasets, attention to detail without losing the big picture
  • Strong communication skills : ability to communicate complex findings to important stakeholders, including senior management, and the ability to work in a diverse, international team
  • Professional or academic experience in renewable energy, power systems, energy consulting, commodity trading, or related field
  • Bachelor's degree in economics, engineering, policy, mathematics or other quantitative discipline
  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Economics, Engineering, Energy Technology and Policy, Business, or other relevant degree is a plus
  • Solution-oriented and analytical: strong problem solving intuition and organization
  • Driven: ambitious and target-focused, takes initiative, demonstrates confidence and accountability when making decisions
  • Clear communicator: can articulate complex insights both written and verbally, good listener
  • Entrepreneurial and company minded: strategic thinking, business acumen
