RWE Clean Energy is a leading player in the renewable energy sector, committed to driving sustainable solutions for a cleaner future. As we continue to expand our portfolio of renewable energy projects, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Asset Management Associate to join our dynamic team.

RWE Clean Energy's Asset Management team takes accountability for the commercial success of a >8 GW portfolio of renewable energy assets, of which currently includes 5 utility scale wind projects and 1 utility scale solar project within the scope of this role. Through close collaboration with Operations & Maintenance and various financial stakeholders, the team drives tactical and strategic initiatives optimizing the performance of all assets.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Asset Manager in driving profitability of wind, solar, and battery storage assets by analyzing operational and financial performance and identifying the causes for underperformance
  • Supports the development, implementation, and management of production enhancement or cost savings initiatives resulting from performance analysis
  • Asset Performance Optimization: Monitors asset performance, investigates underperformance, and develops and implements strategies to maximize the operational performance of renewable energy assets; manages technical issues to ensure strategies are fully analyzed, and appropriate solutions developed and implemented
  • Financial Management: Assists in the budgeting, forecasting, and analysis of individual assets; drives long-term profitability and risk minimization
  • Contract Management: Oversees contracts with suppliers, service providers, and other internal/external stakeholders to ensure compliance and alignment with business objectives
  • Risk Management: Identifies and assesses risks related to asset performance, market conditions, and regulatory changes.
  • Monthly Reporting: Reviews monthly operating reports; supports in the presentation of monthly availability and financial analysis for internal stakeholders
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stays abreast of relevant regulations and ensures that all renewable energy projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental permits
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: Assists in developing and implementing strategic and tactical plans by studying market conditions and internal operational needs; identifies technological and commercial opportunities; presents assumptions and recommends objectives and execution of strategies necessary to achieve agreed performance targets
  • Process Improvements: Implements and continuously improves local asset management systems and processes consistent with organizational policies and standards
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Coordinates planning and execution efforts with all stakeholder departments; establishes strong, collaborative relationships with support departments that provide essential skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to effectively and profitably deliver cost savings and achieve goals, such as HSE, Procurement, Controlling, Insurance, Engineering, and Operations teams

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field, or 2 additional years of comparable work experience
  • Master's degree or professional certification a plus
  • Minimum 2 years' proven experience in asset management within the renewable energy sector
  • Experience in asset management and/or technical expertise in the renewable energy industry
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills
  • Strong commercial acumen and entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to translate technical findings into commercial implications
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage internal/external relationships
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
  • Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
  • Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
  • Detail-oriented and has a sound understanding of business concepts
