Our Burnsville, MN Collins Aerospace facility has an opening for a Wind Tunnel Technician, working at our industry leading wind tunnel test facility, testing for subsonic, transonic and icing conditions.

  • This is a weekend shift, working Friday through Monday, 10 hour shifts each day. Flexible start time is either 5AM, 6AM or 7AM.

What YOU will do:

  • You will set-up, conduct and operate testing associated with the wind tunnels, interpreting results in the pass/fail criteria.
  • Possess the ability to determine valid functional data and document activities in a timely manner.
  • You will interact with various production and engineering groups to complete successful testing.
  • Set up and operate the low speed, wind tunnel tests, preparing wind tunnels for qualification programs and production testing
  • Perform occasional preventative maintenance procedures and total productive maintenance items on a daily basis
  • Monitor and control tunnel parameters during testing to ensure repeatable and predictable output
  • Work with internal and external customers to verify desired testing conditions are satisfied
  • Create test sheets and data records for reference
  • Update and create standard work documentation for wind tunnel operations
  • Maintain clean work environment by following 5S protocol

What YOU will learn:

  • Gain exposure to industry-leading technologies and testing of sensor products for aerospace applications.

Education and /Experience:

HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR In the absence of a HS diploma, GED or AA/AS degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required.

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

This role is also eligible for the Re-Empower Program. The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 83,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
