Job Summary:

Tool Engineers are responsible for all aspects of design, documentation, procurement and integration of assembly Tooling into a highly complex manufacturing environment. Tool Engineers oversee projects from concept to implementation and strive to incorporate safe, ergonomic, error-proofed, and innovative mechanical solutions into the factory. Tooling Engineers will utilize and comply with established methods, processes and procedures as outlined by the Tooling Section Manager.

  • Develop mechanical designs and CAD packages using Creo
  • Capture design requirements and communicate tooling concepts with manufacturing and factory teams
  • Create and interpret mechanical engineering drawings
  • Release technical data packages in cPDM
  • Coordinate tool fabrication with internal tool room and/or outside machine shops
  • Complete Tooling Statement of Work (TSOW) as required to support quotes and funding for tool design projects
  • Follow and support established guidelines regarding drawing layouts and release procedures

Basic Qualifications:

  • University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • 2yrs of Tool Design experience
  • Experience with CAD Modeling
  • Experience with drawing interpretation
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience (Excel, Power Point, Word)
  • Knowledge and experience with machine shop practices
  • Additive Manufacturing experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous tool design experience
  • Experience with Creo and cPDM
  • Previous experience utilizing PRISM and ZITOOL to manage a design queue
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills - comfortable working with quantitative and qualitative data
  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) knowledge
