Raytheon Industry 4.0 - Connected Factory & Intelligence (CFI&A) has an immediate career-growth opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and innovative Software Developer to join our Automation Systems Engineering (ASE) team.
As an Automation Systems Engineering team member, you will be responsible for the development and deployment of manufacturing automation & digital solutions to maximize the operational efficiency of our factory and program customers. The Software Developer supports the integration of advanced digital solutions, such as IIoT, smart workstations, equipment integration and control, AI/ML, and data analytics, into manufacturing processes.

This role will merge technical, manufacturing, and business knowledge to drive new innovations across Raytheon. The role has a foundation in software development but offers significant opportunities for growth including identifying new innovative opportunities, quantifying business value, presenting to leadership, and then coordinating across functions to execute initiatives. The candidate will work in a highly collaborative and diverse team of engineers and leaders.
What You Will Do
- Software development - Collaborate with stakeholders, define new applications or features, and develop efficient and scalable code to implement (primarily using Ignition).
- System integration - Connection and data management with factory devices (equipment, sensors, torque controllers, vision systems, robots, etc.).
- Machine control - Support the internal development of automation equipment including machine interfaces, recipe management, and data management.
- Scope of software solutions for smart factory applications include smart workstations, equipment integration and control, recipe management, Andon systems, process data collection, and machine vision applications.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires BS in an Engineering field or the sciences (STEM)
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations/engineering, software engineering systems engineering, controls engineering, and/or automation engineering; or 3+ years with an advanced STEM degree in Engineering.
- Proficiency in software development using a combination of tools such as Ignition, SQL, Python, C#, .NET, HTML5.
- Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus/TCP, MQTT, Ethernet IP, SECS/GEM, etc.
- Experience diagnosing hardware and network-related issues effectively.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Active DOD Secret Clearance
- Ignition Gold Certification
- Experience with PowerBI, GraphQL, Tableau, SQL Server, SAP, Eyelit, Windows Task Scheduler Automation, SQL Server job agent automation, SQL Server SSIS, Azure DevOps framework.
- Rockwell PLC experience
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment and familiarity with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems)
- Understanding of automation systems (robots, vision systems, PLCs, etc.) deployment and integration

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
