Pratt & Whitney is planning to invest at least $650 million through 2027 in a world-class turbine airfoil production facility in Asheville, North Carolina. The new, 1,000,000-square-foot facility will house an advanced casting foundry for the production of turbine airfoils as well as conduct machining, coating and finishing of airfoils onsite.

The new, state-of-the-art facility will implement best-in-class manufacturing technologies and processes exemplifying industry 4.0 manufacturing principles and will complement existing turbine airfoil work that is done across Pratt & Whitney's facilities.

The Technical Manager is responsible for leading manufacturing engineering team supporting a Business Unit within the Asheville, NC site and will play a key role in the tactical and strategic direction. The candidate must demonstrate exceptional leadership, interpersonal and team skills, as well as strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing business requirements. Additionally, we will be looking for individuals with strong business acumen, manufacturing proficiency, and the ability to develop and insert new technologies into the manufacturing process.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead manufacturing team in all areas of engineering, processes, work instructions, quality requirements, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive product cost reduction and ensure War on Cost targets are achieved through data driven process improvements and deployment of new technologies.
  • Manage manufacturing engineering resources and assignments across manufacturing cells and effectively manage the Manufacturing Engineering support budget for respective business unit.
  • Develop and drive standardized engineering practices, processes, tools and methods across all products.
  • Develop, plan, and implement capital requirements to support productivity improvements, technology insertion, manufacturing automation and capacity for future programs.
  • Implement and execute engineering changes to ensure customer requirements are met and financial commitments are achieved.
  • Identify and mitigate development program manufacturing risks to ensure program deliverables and timelines are met; Ensure MRL (Manufacturing Readiness Level) aligns to Program requirements as hardware transitions from development to production across business unit.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations or similar degree and 10+ years of experience in operations, manufacturing engineering or similar experience or a Master's degree in a relevant field and 7+ years of related experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Ability to travel 30%.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Advanced degree in Business, Engineering, Operations or similar discipline.
  • 15+ of experience in operations, manufacturing engineering or similar experience.
  • Aerospace Industry experience.
  • Project management skills.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
