Collins Aerospace is currently seeking a Mechanical Designer/Drafter. Performs a wide variety of highly complex technical tasks which require knowledge of engineering techniques and mechanical design theory in the creation of computer models to determine design solutions for electronic equipment and systems. Assists in the modifications of engineering design prototypes and/or first article electronic equipment in preparation for production design release of product. Assists in the creation of design documentation and release of documentation into the enterprise business systems.

What You Will DO:
- Will perform tasks in a classified closed lab environment
- Performs the preparation of required records for the release of design data and design documentation into the company data and documentation control systems.
- Provides design database and documentation checking responsibilities for new design and drawing release or revisions to existing design and design drawings and documentation.
- Assists engineering in determining and employing proper specifications for materials, finishes and processes, connectors, or other electrical components, etc.
- Under limited supervision and direction: Performs a wide variety of complex technical tasks which require considerable knowledge of engineering techniques and design theory to create precision mechanical or electrical design layouts. Utilizing limited verbal instructions, sketches, schematic diagrams, existing hardware, or engineering lab models, received from mechanical and/or electrical engineering and other technical support personnel working on the project.
- Applies knowledge of manufacturing, tolerancing, and producibility capabilities during the design process to ensure cost effective design.
- Assists engineering in determining and employing proper specifications for materials, finishes and processes, connectors, or other electrical components, etc. during the design process.
- Applies Company, Industry and Contractual standards during the preparation of hardware design and documentation data.
- Completes the preparation of the necessary technical documentation for the release of Hardware design
- Has an advanced understanding of the CAD and data management tools to enable completion of design tasks
- Assist the CAD tool support team in testing and debugging of software tools as tool vendor releases them.
- Assist in development of new design/documentation techniques and procedures based on the current government or commercial publications for design/documentation requirements.
- Provides validation of change definition artifacts for revisions to existing design and drawing/documentation.
- Provides validation of revision capture definition into formal design and documentation data in accordance with defined change requirements.
- Provides design database and documentation checking for new design and drawing release
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
- 1+ years experience in 3D modeling using Solidworks or Siemens NX
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience in GD&T Dimensioning
- Experience using ASME standards
- Experience using Enovia 3D experience PDM

This role is also eligible for the Re-Empower Program. The salary range for this role is 40,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
