The following position is to join our RTX Technology Research Center:
The Electromagnetic and Network Systems Team at RTX Technology Research Center (RTRC) is a multidisciplinary team working in the research and development in RF and EO components and systems. We develop and execute programs focused on transitioning novel concepts from early technology stages to a state that impacts and influences businesses and applications. Our Team is looking for highly motivated individuals for the position of Electromagnetics research interns with emphasis on RF circuits and applied electromagnetics. Internship role at the Research Center provides graduate students the opportunity to get exposed to most challenging problems and cutting-edge technological advancements.
What You Will do
- Modeling, prototyping, and testing active and passive RF circuits
- Electromagnetics and multi-physics modeling
- Utilizing modeling tools and testing equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate results.
- Providing support for technical reports and presentation.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Candidates must be currently pursuing a Master's or Doctoral degree in Physics, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field. Please submit a copy of your academic transcripts with your application.
- At least 1 year of relevant course work on electromagnetism, atomic, molecular and optics physics.
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience with fundamental components and instruments including fiber optics, electro-optical components, light sources, detectors, electronics, optical system alignment.
- 1+ years of hands-on experience with simulation and computation tools including ZEMAX, Matlab, Labview and/or Python.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience with modeling in Zemax including optical and optical fiber component simulation.
- Experience with photonic integrated circuits
- Experience with metamaterial, metasurface designs
- Experience with quantum optics and materials

Location: This position is in East Hartford, CT and is hybrid role.

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.
The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
