What you will do:
- As first-line manager, responsible for oversight of software personnel in order to meet program needs
- Lead, mentor cross-section of Software Engineers across experience-levels, across all phases of SDLC
- Work closely with the individual program leads and architects to ensure big picture objectives of the product family are met.
- Focus on managing the execution of the of the family of programs, coordinating between teams, ensuring that the shared agile backlog is defined/maintained, and keeping both program leadership and the customer up to date.
- To successfully achieve this objective, the candidate should have a strong technical background to inform leadership decisions.
- Also, support in functional management tasks including but not are not limited to hiring, ensuring adequate resources (personnel and assets) are dedicated to programs, providing technical guidance, developing career paths, facilitating alignment with engineering command media, guiding productivity improvement and risk mitigation initiatives in support of the normal operations.
- Be involved in proposal work, providing cost estimates for future work utilizing objective information from historical metrics.
- U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.
- The ability to obtain and maintain additional special access clearance.
- Work onsite at El Segundo, CA
- Some business travel is included
Qualifications you must have:
- A minimum of 8 years experience in large software development programs.
- Current/recent experience with various languages, including C/C++.
- Lead or management experience.
- Experience with the Atlassian toolsets, Jira, Docker, Coverity or similar.
- Experience in embedded software / signal process / DevSecOps or in any open architecture or similar.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred).
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Current Top Secret Clearance with Special Access
- Prior Agile Product Owner experience for multiple programs or within a scrum of scrums environment
- Functional management experience (Managing performance, conducting reviews, mentoring, care and feeding of staff, hiring, etc).
- Experience creating software bid estimates.
- Ability to mentor and motivate team
- Big picture software architecture understanding
- Experience with Agile Development Methodologies
- Understanding of OMS and Containerization

The salary range for this role is 105,000 USD - 221,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
