We are seeking a talented and forward-thinking Software Engineering Intern to join our team in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. You will be working with experienced engineers who are eager to share their expertise in flight control embedded software systems. What You Will Do:

  • Design, develop, and test safety critical flight control software
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as DO-178C
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve high-quality and reliable software solutions

What You Will Learn:

  • Understand the basics of embedded systems and how software interacts with hardware components in aerospace systems
  • Gain proficiency in programming languages commonly used in aerospace applications, such as C and Python
  • Learn to use integrated development environments (IDEs), version control systems (e.g., Git), and other software development tools
  • Gain knowledge of industry standards and regulations, such as DO-178C for avionics software
  • Develop problem-solving skills by troubleshooting and debugging software issues that arise during development and testing

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Displays experience using C and Python
  • Demonstrates good communications skills
  • Works well independently

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. Must be a commutable distance to Windsor Locks, CT to work an onsite schedule. This position may be eligible for relocation.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
