Software Engineer II - Simulation & Training DoD TS/SCI Required (Onsite)
Collins Aerospace is on the lookout for a talented Software Engineer II to join our Sterling, VA team within the Simulation and Training Solutions (STS) business area. STS develops and builds highly realistic simulators and training systems for military and commercial customers. We utilize cutting-edge technology to deliver highly specialized training for some of the most demanding jobs in aviation. Devices range in complexity from desktop training all the way up to high-fidelity weapon systems and full flight training systems, including full visual motion and simulator interoperability.
In this role, you will be a technical focal for the design, implementation, and testing of complex multi-platform training device software and their associated user interfaces. This position requires a highly motivated self-starter who can learn quickly and can tackle complex problems. Candidate will work in a software scrum team with moderate supervision and interact with software, systems, hardware, and test engineers as well as with project leadership. This position requires the ability to obtain a US security clearance. Most aspects of the job are done in a classified lab environment and requires a daily onsite presence.
What YOU will do:
- Design, develop, integrate, and test software on cross-functional agile teams
- Works with technical lead to understand and resolve software problems.
- Supports the understanding of programming technologies available to provide the most efficient means to implement the needed functionality.
- Generate engineering design documentation and participate in software code peer reviews
- Actively learn new technologies and techniques and apply them to new domains and problem sets
- Perform multi-threaded software debugging
- Provide accurate time estimates for software development efforts
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR In absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret Security Clearance or higher is required prior to start date.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Previous experience working with multi-threaded C# or JAVA software applications.
- Experience with object-oriented programming concepts.
- Prior experience with Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) highly desired.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Familiarity with Linux and Windows development environments
- Experience using Visual Studio and Eclipse
- Familiarity with DevSecOps and Agile development methodologies
- Strong OOP and C++ language skills including STL, Templates
- Usage of source code control tools (SVN, GIT, ClearCase, etc.)
- Usage of ALM tools (JIRA, Confluence, Crucible, Bamboo)
- Active DoD Security Clearance (within 24 months)

The salary range for this role is 70,000 USD - 142,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
