Join Collins Aerospace as a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor and support the development of advanced technology methods. We are looking for a strong, passionate problem-solver with an action-oriented, collaborative mindset and who is technically experienced in design and structural analysis.

In this role, you will conduct FEA analysis and model correlation to instrumented test data to develop and progress new technology analysis methodologies. You will also be expected to manage a team of professionals in Engineering, establish objectives and guidelines for engineering processes, product specifications and other areas of engineering. Coordinate the preparation of business plans and proposals. Provide functional management to employees and direct project staff recruitment.

This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.

What YOU will do:

  • Manage the activities of a team of engineers that will improve the efficiency and productivity of the organization's systems and components.
  • Use highly developed technical knowledge and project management skills for project planning budget management, and methodology development to ensure that projects are completed on-time, within budget and according to defined goals.
  • Establish design concepts, process, product specifications, and other components impacting software, systems and electronics engineering.
  • Direct recruitment, placement, and evaluation of engineering project staff and their work products to ensure the effective deployment of talent.
  • Oversee the functional management of direct reports including but not limited to career development and succession planning to meet the organization's needs.
  • Manage the collection and analysis of customer specifications and system level requirements, decomposing into sub-system and piece part requirements, and generating verification criteria and plans for the requirements.
  • Construct finite element structural models and perform static linear and nonlinear analyses using Ansys software.
  • Perform strength and fatigue analyses using FEA results.
  • Perform analytical correlation studies to instrumented test data.
  • Prepare and communicate business plans, high quality technical reports and presentations.
  • Identify and communicate analysis process improvements (efficiency, automation, etc.) and develop workflows customized for FEA modeling, analyses, and post processing of results.
  • Identify new strategies and/or modify current policies, practices and procedures.
  • Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally when circumstances permit.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Knowledge in creating career development programs to ensure skills and performance of employees meet the organization's current and future needs.
  • Experience managing programs or parts of a program including successfully managing small group of engineers under technical guidance.
  • Experience as project leader managing scope, schedule, and budget for engineering activities
  • Knowledge and experience applying Earned Value Management System (EVMS) performance metrics
  • Experience with bid and proposal efforts for engineering programs
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Proficient in Ansys FEA (highly desirable) or other similar commercial CAE software.
  • Experience with FEA best practices, such as defeaturing 3D models, defining material and contact assignments, applying boundary conditions, and post-processing analysis results.
  • Experience with static linear and nonlinear FEA analysis.
  • Experience with fatigue analysis using customized damage assessment tools.
  • Knowledge in scripting to create automated workflows.
  • Experience with LS-Dyna is a plus.
  • Experience in Siemens NX or similar package.
  • Strong knowledge in theories of solid mechanics.
  • Experience in technology project development (TRL progression projects).
  • Teamcenter experience is a plus.
  • Experience in working with global team with diverse technical/functional background.
  • Knowledge in develop machined learning (ML) & physics informed machine learning (PIML) is a value
