Senior Structural Engineer - Space Systems (Onsite)

Job Overview:

Primary responsibility will be preforming structural analysis on a variety of life support hardware for application in space.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform structural analysis in support of all phases of the product life cycle including preliminary design, detailed design, development testing and validation.
  • Use finite element analysis and classical methods to evaluate for strength, deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.
  • Support vibration and shock testing of hardware.
  • Preform fracture analysis in support of design classifications
  • Work collaboratively with design engineering team to capture design intent and produce unique design solutions
  • Clearly document and substantiate analysis results and conclusions
  • Present results to peers, management and customers.
  • Develop tools to streamline the analysis process

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

  • This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with NASA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per NASA's regulation SUBPART 1835.5 Drug- Free Workforce
  • Proficiency in Common Finite Element Software (NASTRAN / ANSYS)
  • Working understanding of structural concepts and failure modes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform structural analysis on hardware using a combination of hand calculations and internal tools
  • Experience in Aerospace Industry
  • Understanding of structural standards of space industry
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills
  • Experience in Vibration / Shock Test Support

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
