Software Engineer - Aviation & Cargo Systems

What you will do:

  • Collaborate with a multi-functional team using agile development techniques to plan, design, develop, test, and support embedded software across various hardware platforms.
  • Lead software development efforts-owning a product or guiding a team of software developers.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects effectively, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain DO-178-compliant documentation while assisting in requirements analysis.
  • Drive software development across the entire product lifecycle-from concept to deployment.
  • Travel occasionally to support system integration, customer events, and external engagements.
  • Adapt existing embedded software applications to the unique challenges of aircraft cargo movement.
  • Collaborate with global teams to enhance simulation tools, verification environments, and software infrastructure.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications we prefer:

  • Experience with some or all the phases of software development: architecture, design, implementation, testing, and system integration.
  • Experience with any of the following: C, C++, Git / SVN, Visual Studio Code, Jira, Gitlab, Docker, Kubernetes, GCC compilers
  • Demonstrated ability to produce robust, well-documented, production-quality code which includes conforming to design and coding standards, implementing error handling routines, etc.
  • Basic understanding of CAN / ARINC / related messaging protocols
  • Knowledge of modeling and simulation frameworks
  • Knowledge on DevSecOps and CI/CD

  • Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
