As a Software Architect on our Satellite Ground Controls Team, you will play a critical role in designing cutting-edge systems that connect space network ground segments and users across the globe. Working with classified programs, you'll have the unique opportunity to influence technologies you are passionate about while contributing to missions of critical importance. Due to the security clearance requirement, this is an onsite position at our Aurora, CO campus.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the design and evolution of software architectures for advanced satellite ground systems.
  • Define, develop, and prototype software capabilities and interfaces to meet mission-critical requirements.
  • Adapt and evolve software and system architectures to align with dynamic customer requirements.
  • Provide software engineering expertise for proposals and future development opportunities.
  • Oversee the design, development, testing, delivery, and maintenance of software systems.
  • Foster modern DevSecOps development methodologies and leverage Agile processes to enhance efficiency and innovation.

What You'll Learn

  • Advanced Planning and Scheduling: Master complex scheduling and resource management for mission-critical satellite operations.
  • Innovative Commanding: Dive deep into the intricacies of software timing, control, and commanding for space systems.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • A Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 10+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
  • Experience as a software architect, including defining and implementing complex systems.
  • Experience in object-oriented software development (Java and C++).
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with satellite mission planning and scheduling algorithms.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and applications deployed in AWS Cloud.
  • Proficiency in C++ and expertise with DevSecOps, CI/CD processes, and DevOps methodologies.
  • Deep understanding of software engineering processes and industry best practices.
  • Experience working on complex, large-scale software development projects.
  • Familiarity with CAMEO Systems Modeler and SysML frameworks.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
