The Sensor Controls & Electronics (SCE) Department in the Electrical Engineering Directorate at Raytheon is seeking an experienced Senior level electrical engineer in the development and implementation of FPGA based designs for control and/or signal processing radar applications.

This is an ONSITE role and may sit in Tewksbury, MA or Marlborough, MA location.

What You Will Do

The FPGA Design Engineer will work as part of a highly motivated team. You will collaborate with cross-functional project teams making up a larger program or internal research and development efforts.

This Engineer will be required to provide development support throughout product lifecycle, from initial concept to acceptance delivery to maintenance.

  • Lead teams of engineers on a common task or group tasks
  • Manage to a schedule and budget
  • Keep internal customers advised of status
  • Participate in strategic decisions on planning and execution
  • Estimate and plan new work
  • Support occasional domestic travel and potential international travel
  • Own or contribute to successful completion of FPGA-based designs, on time and on budget
  • Demonstrate the ability to architect FPGA-based systems to determine parts, interfaces, and Concept of Operations (CONOPS)
  • Design and code in VHDL for reliability and maintainability
  • Verify designs utilizing self-checking techniques with directed and constrained random tests, while tracking functional and code coverage
  • Create complete documentation including requirements, verification plan, and user's guides
  • Support internal and external technical reviews
  • Mentor junior engineers

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience designing FPGAs using VHDL/Verilog (an advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for two additional years of experience)
  • Typically requires experience designing and integrating with tools such as AMD/Xilinx, Intel/Altera or Actel/Microsemi/Microchip FPGAs
  • Typically requires experience using synthesis tools such as Synplify, Xilinx Vivado, or Intel Quartus Pro
  • Experience with Timing Closure, utilizing tools such as Chipscope /Signal Tap, etc
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value

  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline
  • Experience using RTL simulation tools such as Questasim
  • Experience in Intel programmable devices Stratix X, Agilex
  • Experience with high-speed interfaces such as GbE, SRIO, Aurora
  • Working knowledge in common computer hardware interface and data protocols such as RS-422, USB, PCIe, etc.
  • Experience with RADAR system hardware
  • Proficiency in Linux and/or C/C++ and /or Shell/Perl/ Python
  • Knowledge of signal & image processing, digital communications and/or control theories

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
