Raytheon Intelligence and Space business unit is seeking a highly motivated, experienced software engineer to work on Advanced Concepts & Technology (ACT) product development for defense applications. The position is located in Goleta, California.

Typical job functions for the Principal Software Engineer - Goleta include:

  • Participation on collaborative, cross-disciplined integrated product teams, often employing agile software development techniques and tools to plan, design, develop, test, and integrate complex software and systems solutions.
  • Responsibilities include inventions and innovations of new products and technologies, from architecture and design, through integration, lab test and field test.
  • You will work with professionals around the country from diverse technical expertise who thrive in a culture that celebrates the contributions of its employees. You will continue your career in a challenging and collaborative workplace, joining a team with a tradition of achievement through thought and teamwork.
  • Collaborating effectively with other programs and senior technical contributors, in addition to producing planning and technical work products for internal and external customers. You will collaborate with others to form original solutions to complex yet to be solved problems.
  • The candidate is responsible for developing software requirements derived from system level requirements, developing associated architectures, implementing design, performing simulations and analysis and testing of the software, module, and/or unit in a laboratory setting.
  • He/she will be familiar with latest technology trend in the area of microprocessors, memory, and interface protocols.
  • The candidate will work in an advanced product development team environment with system and software engineers.
  • This position may require occasional business-related travel.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in software design, integration and test, or 8 years with a related Master's degree preferably using C, C++ and/or C#.
  • Experience with microprocessor design or system on a chip software design, DDR memory, flash memories, and serial interfaces
  • Experience with the application embedded Linux, Windows or bare metal operation systems real-time applications
  • Experience with interfaces and bus standards such as: VME, PCI, PCIe, VPX, or Gb Ethernet
  • Experience designing with Xilinx or Intel/Altera FPGAs or similar products
  • Possess skills to handle fast pace and dynamic product development environment including engagement with systems and electrical engineers
  • Strong team player with good interpersonal skills as well as excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Experience working closely and directly with the customer
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in the phases of the software lifecycle, including software architecture, system/software requirements analysis, design, implementation, verification testing, system integration, and post-delivery maintenance.
  • Digital signal processing design skills
  • Systems engineering and systems architecture experience
  • FPGA interface experience
  • Lab experience in testing of products using logic analyzers, high-speed oscilloscopes, signal generators, and system on a chip debugging tools
  • Experience with signal analyses and signal generation.
  • High speed transceiver software interface design
  • Experienced in Agile development processes
  • Experience with detailed program planning, scheduling and implementation.
  • Experience working closely and directly with the customer
  • High end software game user and/or developer

Required Education:
Bachelors of Science degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering

Desired Education:
Master Degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is preferred
