Senior Principal Electrical Engineer - Air Combat Training (Onsite)
The Air Combat Test & Training (ACTT) Department within Mission Systems strives to improve training capability and realism so that U.S. warfighters and international partners can "train like you fight." The ACTT engineering team develops state-of-the-art products for cryptographic, datalink, networking, and command and control applications supporting threat and weapon simulations. The complex systems we produce enable military pilots to practice combat maneuvers in the air without the hazards or expense of firing real weapons. We design secure Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (ACMI) systems and mature them from the concept phase through accreditation, factory production, and installation.
This position is located onsite in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. May be eligible for relocation.

What You Will Do:
- Lead the engineering effort to produce, test, troubleshoot, repair, and deliver air combat test and training electronics
- Create, review, markup, update, and release drawings, schematics, and test procedures
- Produce change orders, engineering change proposals, and waivers
- Investigate electrical issues seen during production or acceptance test and leverage knowledge to address
- Support efforts to transition products from engineering development to factory production and resolve obsolescence concerns
- Manage root cause corrective action efforts to improve yields and reduce manufacturing time
- Mentor and guide multiple teams to improve technical solutions and process efficiency
- Work in a collaborative Agile development environment
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required
- Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Experience in multilayer PWB/PCB electrical design and analysis
- Experience with electrical schematics and drawings
- Experience with the manufacturing and production of complex Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs), cable wiring harnesses, or Line Replaceable Units (LRUs)
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience with electrical power supply, RF, or high-speed digital design
- Familiarity with EMI and Signal Integrity design techniques and analysis
- Familiarity with military communications, avionics, or data buses
- Expertise in ruggedized electronics design for MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 requirements
- Experience with hands-on troubleshooting using engineering lab equipment
- Involvement in external communications with customers and vendors
- Ability to lead and mentor teams of less-experienced engineers
- Critical thinking and analytical skills
- Experience in an Agile development environment
- Managing competing tasks while balancing priorities

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
