Collins Aerospace is looking for Senior Manufacturing Engineer for our Collins Aerospace Richardson team within Mission Systems. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter, have the ability to multitask across multiple projects, apply critical thinking (potentially with limited information), adapt to rapidly changing circumstances, and be able to effectively network and communicate to all levels of the Mission Systems organization. This individual may be assigned to a specific product line or various technologies of moderate to complex in scope.

The Candidate will be responsible for engineering support during the assembly, test, and acceptance processes in the manufacture of Collins products. This includes responsibility for specific process or environmental areas. Incumbent may be assigned to a specific product line or Integrated Product Team (IPT). Uses independent judgment to make decisions in day-to-day job responsibilities the majority of the time under general supervision.
This role will be performed Onsite at our Collins Aerospace location in Richardson, TX.
What You Will Do
- Design arrangement of tooling and machines of the manufacturing process collaborating with the Industrial Engineering team
- Collaborate with Design Engineering, Test Engineering, Component Application Engineering, and other Manufacturing Engineers to coordinate design changes required for sustaining the release of new products
- Provides technical expertise and interpretation of drawings and specifications of products to assist in the assembly, inspection, and test and troubleshoot moderately complex products (circuit card through top level). Identify opportunities on drawings and specs to influence changes to engineering designs and line balancing
- Participate in tool design reviews to ensure tools are feasible and reduce build times and program costs during fabrication
- Ensure sequence on manufacturing process and product builds complies with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and Quality requirements
- Work with Quality Engineering ensuring products are built per the RTX and Collins Quality Policy
- Create and maintain manufacturing process documents (routings, BOM, Visual aids, Std work, etc.)
- Participate in manufacturing initiatives with support from Subject Matter Experts (SME)
- Use statistical analysis tools to perform root cause analysis and corrective actions on non-conforming product
- Drive targeted manufacturing process optimization activities such as Value Stream Mapping and Process Flow Diagram, PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), Control Plans, Measurement Systems Analysis, Yield & Cost curves, and Qualification plan
- Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) events across all business processes and with all levels of leadership
- Work with senior management to support the project pipeline process to select, prioritize, and scope projects to business objectives integrated with other continuous improvement activities and CORE (Customer Oriented Results and Excellence) initiatives
- Works with cross-functional teams and internal customers across the business unit to acquire a better understanding of the business and customers
- Evaluate, select, and recommend capital test equipment, when appropriate, using sound cost/payback analysis
- Identifies the concerns of the customer, probes for answers, and actively listens to and understands the customers' business
- Drive problem solving initiatives & challenge the status quo
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
Qualifications We Prefer
- Domain knowledge and experience with commercial assembly methodologies for electromechanical, chassis, cable harness, and other similar assemblies within a Aerospace Certified environment
- Experience with 3D modeling software SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo Parametric, NX, or similar
- Background and/or knowledge of Military Platform Integration
- Background and/or knowledge with IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, and Military specification requirements and standards

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
