We are seeking a skilled Senior Software Development Engineer with a focus on developing complex systems. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating high-performance applications and will be involved in all stages of the software development lifecycle. You will work onsite in Fort Wayne, IN as part of the Software Development Team.

What You Will Do

  • Design, develop, test, deliver, and maintain software for cutting-edge defense programs
  • Work with talented teams of engineers, architects, and leaders in an Agile environment.
  • Functional analysis of real world and test data
  • Collaboration with customer to bring new capabilities to the warfighter.

What You Will Learn

  • A breadth of advanced software technologies and techniques including multi-tiered architectures.
  • Modern DevSecOps and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery techniques.
  • Software lifecycle practices for large-scale defense projects.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of relevant software engineering experience.
  • Experience developing software using Java and/or C++.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience developing software using Realtime Java Environments
  • Experience with C++ and Java Unit Test Frameworks
  • Software development lifecycle experience using an Agile methodology.
  • Experience with Atlassian, Test Automation, DevSecOps, and CI/CD processes.
  • Experience with tools such as Confluence, VS Code, Jira, Jenkins, and Junit.
  • Experience in system design, development, integration/verification, production, and sustainment
  • Experience across the product development life cycle.
  • Excellent communications skills, verbal and written, with technical, customer and leadership audiences.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Proven ability and desire to facilitate career growth and knowledge transfer.
  • Proven ability to develop technical solutions to complex issues.
  • Familiarity with DOORS, and MS Office.
  • Existing DoD Security Clearance.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
