This position is part of the Whole Life Engineering project team focused on the development, integration, validation, and maintenance of test hardware/software for advanced military communications and displays. The selected candidate will develop software applications, libraries, and instrument drivers; as well as developing hardware solutions that include both high-end Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) test equipment and in-house test fixtures.
The selected candidate will contribute to one or more multidiscipline engineering teams, including representation from our global design, operations, service, and program management offices. Typical work involves the development of both engineering and production test equipment and systems. As such, the candidate will contribute to the completion of all stages of test product development for Collins Aerospace test products. They will be expected to act, either as a part of their team or independently, to ideate, develop and release high-quality test solutions to our production floors across the world.
This position is 100% on site in Cedar Rapids, IA.
What YOU Will Do:
- Develop and maintain ATE (Automated Test Equipment) test software for a factory/production environment which exercises and analyzes hardware deliverable products.
- Develop and maintain ATE (Automated Test Equipment) test fixtures through circuit design, cable design, connector strategies, and top-level fixture design. Work closely with a PCB and mechanical designers, reviewing designs and participating in design reviews.
- Support cradle to grave efforts including requirements, design, integration, validation, verification, and maintenance of test hardware and software.
- Design high quality solutions that meet cost and schedule targets.
- High focus on DFM/DFS standards (Design for Manufacturability / Design for Serviceability).
- Troubleshoot software and hardware as part of an integration team.
- Communicate effectively with global engineering, operations, service and program leadership.
- Experience with software applications using C, C++, C#, NI LabVIEW, NI TestStand, or other test software programming languages.
- Ability to interface ATE test software with laboratory and production tests instrumentation such as but not limited to oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, signal generators, signal analyzers, and/or direct current power supplies.
Qualifications We Require:
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience oran Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
- Experience with developing and maintaining ATE (Automated Test Equipment) test hardware and software for a factory/production environment.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience with ATE test software requirements, design, implementation, integration, validation, and verification process events.
- Experience with RF technologies and/or high-speed digital communications.
- Experience with lifecycle design and support methodologies including requirements generation, design to cost, factory integration and validation and post-release support.
- Experience with software applications using C, C++, C#, NI LabVIEW, NI TestStand, or other test software programming languages.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
