What You'll Do:

  • Lead and Inspire: Oversee a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians to deliver innovative commercial aircraft seating actuation designs, driving resource planning, project scheduling, and issue resolution to support multiple high-impact programs.
  • Drive Engineering Excellence: Guide design engineering teams in executing integrated design plans, aligning with other engineering functions and downstream teams to achieve seamless product development from concept to launch.
  • Strategic Planning & Execution: Play a key role in business development by providing technical input for new business quotes and change requests, focusing on budget management and execution planning.
  • Collaborate and Integrate: Work closely with seat design teams, operations, quality, purchasing, aircraft OEMs, and certification teams to ensure our products exceed expectations in quality, safety, and performance.
  • Innovate for the Future: Lead the research, design, and development of cutting-edge mechanical and electrical systems. Ensure products are optimized for performance and reliability, reducing design errors and achieving key design metrics such as cost, quality, and schedule.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide hands-on guidance and mentorship to your team, ensuring robust design and integration of mechanical systems and sub-systems. Oversee critical elements like LRU design, harness drawings, and product performance.
  • Develop Talent and Teams: Cultivate a high-performance culture by empowering your team of engineers and technicians, ensuring professional growth, and maintaining a safe, efficient working environment.
  • Ensure Compliance and Quality: Lead efforts to meet rigorous aerospace certification requirements, such as RTCA DO-160 and DO-178, and deliver products that are both safe and market-leading.

Regulatory and Certification Expertise:

  • Aerospace Certification Standards: Acquire in-depth knowledge of aerospace industry standards, such as RTCA DO-160 and RTCA DO-178, and the processes involved in achieving these certifications for electrical and software components.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Learn how to implement and maintain strict quality assurance practices to meet regulatory and customer requirements, enhancing your understanding of compliance and safety in aviation engineering.

Technical Skill Enhancement:

  • Advanced Circuit Design and Analysis: Strengthen your technical skills in circuit design, PCB layout, component selection, and mixed-signal board design, as well as using advanced lab equipment for testing and troubleshooting.
  • Prototyping and Testing Oversight: Gain hands-on experience in managing engineering technicians in a lab setting, overseeing the building and testing of prototypes, wiring harnesses, and test equipment, and ensuring safe operating conditions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Interdisciplinary Communication: Enhance your ability to collaborate with various teams, including seat design, operations, quality, purchasing, aircraft OEMs, and certification teams, to ensure cohesive product development and problem-solving.

Qualifications you Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience

Qualifications we Prefer:

  • Experience working in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience with RTCA DO-160 Electrical Component Certification
  • Experience with RTCA-DO178 Software Component Certification
  • Proficient in circuit design, component selection, and PCB layout.
  • Experience and demonstrated expertise in analog and mixed-signal circuit board design, such as low-level current and voltage measurement applications.
  • Good familiarity with lab equipment experience (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, LCR meter, etc.)
  • Project management

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
